I like being a doc and like to be in the middle of PvP. What I don't like is that when I go out PvPing with my friends, at the end of the day I've healed 10s of 1000s of damage, cured hundreds of poisons, buffed several times, and revived any I couldn't heal in time....all for a net MINUS 200 faction (or more)and loss of pvp ranking since I have absolutely no way to kill someone unless I get lucky and happen upon an incapp'ed person. In that time my friends have killed a lot of people and gained a good amount of faction and ranking. Faction and ranking they couldn't have gotten with me not there because they'd be dead.

Why do we not get faction and ranking for healing a player who kills an opposing faction member? Since I try to gather all my own resources and have shops to sell meds to others I have zero combat skills. I can't go run faction missions (not alone anyway). All I can do is go down, never up.

Why is this? Any plans to fix this? Or does anyone else even think this is a problem? And please don't tell me to be a CM/Rifleman.

That sounds like a really good idea, mabey if it was just for rez'ing someone since you are "helping" your faction, mabey get like 10-15 FP per rez (only if the person was killed by an Imp though, otherwise there would be WAY too much abuse of this for FP gain). Come to mention it though.....ya would never work cause there would be many many people out there who would abuse the system in order to gain FP.

The problem with giving fp for healing is that it can easily be exploited and even macroed.

Please re-read what I said. "get faction and ranking for healing a player who kills an opposing faction member." i.e. you get faction and/or pvp ranking when theopposing player dies (just like everyone who aided in that enemies demise currently.)

I am fairly up to date on SWG macrosand I can't see any way to macro this for exploitation as you suggest. It would involve anopposing faction memberto die repeatedly. That person would lose faction and ranking everytime they died then would have to be rezzed or cloned to repeat the process.

Your comrades could be thoughtful, and let you do the /deathblow.

Yes they could and they do try to let me sometimes, but who knows if there's a doc/medic/cm hiding somewhere who will pop out andheal the fallen before I get there. Or there are a good number of enemy foes...you don't want to leave the guy lay there while you deal with the rest, he could become a threat again. Or heaven forbid I go to db and get killed myself.

One thing I hadn't though of is...what range can you /deathblow from? I assumed it had to be close (< 5m) so I always run up to do it, never tried from farther away.

Still seems to me I should be able to get 10-20% of the normal faction/pvp ranking forsupport during battle.

I can't think of too many ways of tying FP and healing together without risking some exploit or other. On the upside, there's nothing stopping a Master Doc from being successful in PvP. There are a lot more now than ever, in fact. Granted, you can only master one other elite profession, but the addition of MD to any combat prof is nothing to sneeze at. Removing states, poisons, diseasesand doing massive stim healing is a worthy skill to have. Being self-reliant for buffing doesn't hurt either. I picked-up 120 PvP rating today alone

I agree, people would take advantage of this. Good overall idea, probably needs more thought. You don't have to be a CM/Rifleman to be succesful in player vs player(PvP).. I'm a Rifleman/Doctor and I'm a decent PvPer. Instead of making your main guya merchant, why not make an alt thats a PvP based player, or do something like your alt is a Merchant so you can mix Doctor w/ a combat skill thats useful. Just a thought.
