DR is extremely important, at least it was for my buff packs. The avian meat and the reactive gas I was using only allowed me to get MAX 2hr 40 minute buffs. I searched around and found some better resources DR wise and now they are 3hr 20 minutes and Im only a 10pt doc.

When you are crafting an item, check the stats on the schematic. It will tell you how important each stat is to the overall product.
For example:
OQ 66%
PE 33%
Is very common.

One important lesson that I learned recently was that DR only matters on the reactive gas and avian meat. It's tempting to look for resources with higher DR otherwise (CL4, Dolovite, etc...) but it doesn't make a difference at all.
