Thread: Made Master Doctor and lost all interest...
The problem with Master Doctors is that they do stuff that EVERYONE ELSE CAN DO, albeit not as well. The galaxy is full of carbineers, bounty hunters and tailors who have basic medical skills and can do it with no issue; plus, there are so many tweaked stimpacks now that a Stim-B with a good amount of kick can really heal well. I can't get any tips anymore in the medical centers because there are ten medics of low level all healing for free.
Plus, once you reach Master Doctor and don't need any more XP, there's no impetus to keep doing it. I only Doc for my guild now, because nobody else seems to need my services.
Sitting in front of a major starport with my surgical droid doesn't seem to work; everyone just wants buffs, and to get the best buffs you need access to the advanced components (I don't have factories, nor am I likely to.)
There seems to be a big problem once you reach Master Doc and you don't want to go out and start killing things. I don't want to create a new character, either, because frankly I don't want to have to do that awful grind thing again (the Medical Crafting chain, which was a nightmare!)
Any suggestions?
You don't want to try a new character, then I guess check out Jedi Academy, it's very fun.
I mean... you're a doctor. If you want to be a combat healer, then you need to do Combat Medic. They excel at flinging heals around.
I just hit master doctor a few days ago, and I'm loving it. My best friend is a Combat Medic, and he does all the battle-healing--I buff everyone (meaning hardly anyone needs heals) and cure poisons/diseases, and assist with the really raunchy heals.
I haven't put down a single harvester yet. I use nothing but advanced components, with Bazaar bought materials. I just scan Entire Galaxy for the stuff I need, and maybe make a few trips to pick it all up. 1600 Tatooine Fiberplast and Lokian Wild Wheat isn't exactly going to break the bank, and that's 100 aBECs. My best normal CRDM is 15-16 power, my absolute **edit**-of-the-world aCRDM (we're talking 100ish quality resources) is 30 power. I made the gawd-awful enhance D's, 25/500/4500--and I can't walk across town without buffing 3 or 4 people. I charge 5k for all 6 buffs, and if any of them don't break 1000 boost, then I refund 1K of that--and people love it. After all, you still can spam your specials with +940 Stamina, and make the money back.
My point is that unless you plan to make pharmecuticals for commercial selling, you really don't need a lot of resources. With solid buffs, you nearly eliminate the need for a group to heal, and massively increase DPS because people can get freaky with the specials. No clone runs with the doctor around, and personally, I HATE healing wounds. Power to the flourishing Medic. I only make Wound C's for Health & Action, because I don't like wasting components on them. I use A's for secondaries. I had a guy with like 100 Health & Action wounds ask me to heal him. I told him to stop being a **edit**, or hike his ass to a Medical Center.
I'm really not ragging you, I promise. But it just sounds to me like being a doctor isn't what you expected. It's right up my alley, I like the passive addition I make with buffs. I like Combat Medics too, but I pair with my friend better as a doctor! Doctors are a lot more passive than the Combat Medic, and sure, that Bounty Hunter over there can really heal himself well with a Stim B.
But I made him that Stim B, and if I buff him then it's like filling a up a bucket with a coffee cup.
What is it you were wanting to do as a Doctor, that you're not able to? I actually lied three different times today saying I was out of enhance packs, because I knew I'd have ten people dying to hand me 5000 CR for the next 20 minutes if I buffed him.
Let's see ... you can buff people to 3k on all stats and heal them for 3k with stim E. You can remove disease and poison and all four states. You can heal people for 1k wound points every ~15 seconds with woundpack E. You can makethe beststim Band wound B for sale. You can spend your other skill points on professions that will complement your self-buffing and self-healing abilities.
Start playing the game. Levelling up to master doctor is the newbie stage. It's time for you to stockpile medicines, choose a side in the GCW, get out there on the high-level planets where they NEED you, and stop wishing for more grinding.
I would add that you don't need a factory for those factory made components IF you can get the creds. By that I mean you can buy those off of a medical supplies reseller or some other Doc friend that does have a factory. Hit your server forum and just ask or search for them, you are sure to find some. I can think of one right off the top of my head on Eclipse. P&L Medical just outside of Coronet. They sell the components, you just need to put them together.
Once you do that you can hawk a full slate of buffs for 6k (1k per stat seems to be just about the going rate these days). Especially if you do your sales on an advanced planet. Beyond that, just do like the folks above state. Get with your friends and go out hunting and exploring using your Doc skills (like those buffs) to keep everyone alive and going so you can explore and hunt farther and longer than they ever would be able to do without you.
Whatever you enjoyed doing to reach master doc, should still provide entertainment for you. If you no longer enjoy helping to keep groups alive, rezzing people, buffing and healing wounds, then you should change your character's design around some. Untrain MD and the wound treatment speed line, and DMU 4, and put the points into other skills to see what you enjoy doing more.
