Thread: thanks for the reply...
I've been away from the game for a good couple months and I just came back. My first session back was pretty good once I found a med center with some patients in it. I did a decent amount of healing exp and saw some old friends. The reason I'm posting is in regard to what I've been reasing in regard to the state of the profession and players top concerns. There are a lot of things that haven't changed. Such as, people not paying for treatment and droids still not being to be called in the med which I think it utterly dumb.
Some of the meds now look like zoos since people are healing pet wounds for exp, makes it hard to find the injured people. I guess my thing is that I don't think docs do well for creds. No one is willing to pay, or very few, but damned if they don't ask you to resus if you can. Also, making high level meds is a BIG TIME money drain when harvesting on multiple planets in paying maintenance and transport fares. We're a support class, people depend on us, and I like helping people and the interaction. That's why I went medic, but anymore I feel like and indentured servant or anything. People complain about us not being at their beckon call, well, guess what Johnny? If the medics aren't around it's cuz you don't make it worth their while. I don't get to go into the field much, I'm needed in the med, my exchange is supposed to be that my fellow players will compensate me, which they don't.
Lastly, I'm very disappointed to hear that combat medics can now heal mind damage and docs can not. To me, that doesn't make much sense. I thought docs were the strong healers and combat medics get ranged healing, area healing and offense. Then, cm's get a heal that docs don't get? How does that make sense? For all of this, I had fun last night. It was good to be back. I was just a bit saddened that a lot of what I left, hadn't changes. Mounts and vehicles or not.

Well, money has long been an issue, but as the game amtures you find more an more of theolder players, or even younger players who have contacts, not worrying about that issue at all. Those with established Stim business, resources sales business or who hawk the buffs tend to do acceptable business for themseleves, especially if they have other sources of income and/or a PA to lean on. So for them money is not an issue (and some of them even yell at Docs that bring the issue up trying to call them whiners, when they just haven't been as lucky or savvy at getting contacts the way that person did.)
As for Mind Heal. That's likely to be a non-issue very soon, once the Combat revamp goes in. Once that is done the reason for limiting the use of a mind heal, being it's exploitability by Medics, will be gone. So I expect we'll see something hapeening on that front soon enough.
However,I would say that if you think about it CM is EXACTLY where a mind heal belongs if only one profession can get it. The reason? What profession is the best DAMAGE healer in combat? CM. Hands down. They have Ranged and AoE heals so they can heal more damage faster than any Doc could ever hope to do. That is a huge part of their role in the game, and since mind heal is a damage healing skill, why not give it to the profession that virtually specializes in damage healing?
But like I said, I expect the point will be moot in the next few months.
they are redesigning pretty much everything related to combat, in several steps
The first step came in the last patch, where they redistributed the Creature handler tree, as well as changing the stats on pretty much all the creatures.
The next phase is going to be re-ballancing all the weapons in game.
Phase 3 will be reworking the HAM system
Phase 4 and continuing will be tweaking of individual proffessions
the full plan is detailed here:
