Thread: How do you do pricing?

Greetings fellow doctors!

I thought I'd get some feedback on prices for various stims. I'm currently selling my stim Bs at 700 (I still can't keep them on the bazaar very long), some have thought this to be too expensive, others cheap, others say its reasonable (I tend toward reasonable, the average of what I'm getting). And since someone will probably want to know, the stims are 336/30 (I use adv. components).

My question to everyone here is how do you price your stims? I'm thinking of a flat pricing structure, with possibly some fluctuation based on quality on a client by client basis (too tough to do it for everyone). I'm currently thinking 700 per B, 900 per C, and 1200 per D stim. Any thoughts on these? How do you do your prices?

BTW, I sell individual stims and crates on Tempest. To be honest, I don't think there is as much money on this server as the others (or prices are just not quite as high). Thanks for your thoughtful feedback!

Pretty simple and it's served me well. 12c per unit on the absolute best of something I've ever done. Anything less than the best priced accordingly lower. That works to 1500 on the best stim-b I've ever done, which would bejust over 15,000 total points of usage. This also means I pass on the savings in making C's as the bang for the buck is a lot greater. Right now my 35-376 stim b is 1250 on thebazaar and 1065 on my vendor. My 41-535 stim c is around 1450/1235. D's take a big jump in price as they require many more units of stuff to make. In a busy battle town these fly off the bazaar at these prices and I sell plenty of crates out of my vendor. I've been loading Theed in Valcyn. I checked Moenia (always check the competition) and noticed Karina (I think) loading identical stuff at identical prices. Sounds like you have some room to bump your prices, Cloudgatherer.

THose are some really nice stims there. I could probably do almost as well, but it's a resource game for me right now =).

Problem for me is I don't have a vendor... or a house... I sell on the streets or do custom orders. I actually enjoy this, but I get a lot of tells where the client wants to buy my crate of 50 stims for 5K (sigh). So far I'm happy with it, selling a crate for 35K seems reasonable to me, they aren't 'the best' stims, but I can't keep them on the bazaar for more than a day (they fly out of AH).

Thanks for the feedback! Nice to hear about experiences on other servers!

I've found pricing is very dependant on where you are (universe wise, not galaxy). I'd be lucky to get 500 for a stim B like yours in Theed on wanderhome. They sell for 1.5k easy in Bestine. And as high as 2200 I've seen em go.

My recommendation would be to wander around, check the bazaars, and sell in the towns where prices are the highest. I'd imagine on any server it'd probably be the Bestine/Anchorhead area.

You could also make your living off of people on advanced planets. Throw stims up for 2-2.5k on the endor bazaars and see if you can make some cash off the captive audiences. I haven't done that (much) since I don't feel like wandering out there, but its certainly a market that sells.

I have no problem selling 45-521 C STIMS for 3000, and could probably go higher but it won't let me raise the on the bazaar.

I am also a Master Doctor on the Tempest server. I charge 1k for my stim B's that average about 32/350 to my customers. When placing the stims on the bazaar i can easily charge 1200+ each and they sell within 24hrs. Of course all those big nasty worlds that we have to check for resources are also a great place to drop off a few to cover your travel costs, sold 5 at the 2k price on Lok and they only took 2 days to sell =)

I believe it just depends on where you plan on marketing your product, and who your current competition is. If you're constantly running low on stock.. raise your prices, which is what I am slowly doing.

Welcome to Tempest! Glad to have another doctor join us =)

try to check out my bazzar theory thread. I sold 5 300/35 for 2k each in 1 day on bestine which prooves that people would buy half decent stim Bs reguardless of the price. I just did it for testing puposes but hey why not.

there is no such thing as ripping of when demand is higher than supply. but in general 300/35 sell for around 1.2k as a fair price and why sell em for 1k if you sell em all.

the only thing that would justify lowering prices is a flood in the market.

i've been experimenting with exponential pricing formula

a decent one is price= uses*15*(1.5^( power /50 - 4) )

with this formula is basicly using 15 credit per charge of 200 power as base and 50% increase in price for every 50 points that (4 is actually a reduced200/50)

if we say 35 uses is the base (fairly typical)

300/35 = 1181
325/35 = 1447
350/35 = 1772
375/35= 2175
400/35= 2658
425/35= 3255
450/35= 3987
475/35= 4883
500/35= 5980

or to summerize 1.2 k for 300, 1.8k for 350 , 2.7k for 400 , 4k for 450 , 6k for 500

be aware i don't use a scale and this scale might be jacked up.

this balances the fact that getting higher power stims is much harder than getting low power ones.

you can adjust the parameters to make any formula you like. you can try that on excel spreadsheet and play with graphs and compare different system .

and anyways if your stim sell, raise prices until they don't then lower prices till they do.

I also have a formula that has never let me down yet and is far simplier than the formula given by some of the prior posts.

For Stims: Take (power/10) * (Number of Uses). Then round up to the nearest 25.

Thus your 30/336 stim would sell for 1000 ... 30 * 33 = 990 >>> 1000

For wound packs: It's the same except you double it at the end.

Thus a 23 use 123 power wound pack would cost 575 ... 23 * 12 * 2 = 552 >>> 575.

I only time I have ever had someone turn down my price is when they have a "friend" that does it for free or half off. There's nothing you can do about that.

Hope this helps.

Maybe my way of thinking is skewed, but I sell my stims B's for 2.5k each on my vendor. On the Baazar I have been getting 3k each and have to make 3 trips a week to restock them.

To make a stim B with advanced componets it requires:

12 Organic, 12 Inorganic, 6 Dantoonie Berry Fruit and 6 Talusian Water Vapor (for the Adv Liquid suspension), 16 Herbivore Meat and 16 Class 4 liquid petro (for the Adv chemical release), 18 Lokian wild wheat and 18 Tatoonie fiberplast (for the Adv BEC)

Thats 104 units of resources from no less than 4 different planets. Resource's from my experience cost anywhere from 3-10 credits each. Higher Qualitty resources demand a premium as well. So at the low end in just resources alone thats 312cr each.

Now factor in the cost of Buying harvesters and keeping them running. Redeed'ing them everytime a resource shifts, paying the upkeep on them and supplying them with power. Also Factories have to be purchased and they require maintenace and power. Travel every other day or so to check the harvesters and move them if needed.

Take all that and add "My" time in as well. Countless hours in the med centers healing person after person to make Master. Its not like you can live on tips from in there.

I just think Stims should demand a fair market value. A good stim can not only save your butt but also reduces the downtime of a player in a camp healing not only themselves but their pets and/or other hunting members and allowing them to get back in the battle faster. Whether it be for xp or the collecting of hides/bones or meat.

I'll listen to what all the other Docs have to say about this subject and reevaluate my prices. Just think we would all be better off if we could come up with a fair market value for our products taking everything into account with what goes into them.

I use a formula for stim prices that's based on the premise that a 30 x 300 stim B sells for 1000 credits on the Starstrider bazaar. At this price I regularly move 80% or more of my stock every day.

Since 30 x 300 = 9000 health points

and 9000 health points sells for 1000 credits,

I charge 1 credit for every 9 health points.

I use a similar method, but vary based on what is currently offered on the bazaar, as well as what planet I am on. It really comes down to marketing research on your current server/planet.

As a base I charge 1 cred for every 10 points of healing. If I notice my stims are way out of the league of other stims offered at my current bazaar location, I make sure I charge a premium over the lesser stims, andRarely less than my standard. e.g. my 32/370 Stim Bs go for about 1200. If I notice people are getting 1200 for regulart stim Bs on that planet, I might bump it up to 1500. I have gotten as much as 2500 for them on the bazaar on Lok and Dath. They just don't sell as fast. I have also sold them as low as 1000 when I was trying to make fast cash.

Basically it all comes down to supply, demand, and desired cash flow. Remember, you are not just supplying 104-110 resources mixed together. You are also supplying harvestor maintenance and moving fees (or bazaar hiked prices for your supplies), factory costs, energy costs, delivery costs, resource gathering travel expenses, etc. Yeah, you may see some Stim B's that a PA put up for 500 because they had some left over and can afford to, but how long do those stay on the board? Not very long. Wander around to some of the medicalvendors one day. You'll notice that a good number of them are chronically empty.

We have one of the most needed items in the game. It is one of the few crafted items ofconstant use that is used up and actually needs replenishment (unlike pets, droids, cloths, etc.) If you sell it too cheap, people will beat down your door for it until you go broke. If you price it too high, people will only buy it slowly. Whish one is the worse scenario?

I've been pricing my stims based on what other respectable master doctors are selling them for. I don't want to over charge a customer but at the same time I don't want to undercut another hardworking doctor. There are enough customers out there for the doctor community to benefit. Throw in more doctors, competition increases and price drops. Lose customer base, competition for those customers increase, price drops. Etc.

For rough numbers...I was able to get 800 for a crappy stim I put on a vendor on lok/endor. Put up a nice stim on endor and I got 2.5k. If there are no other stims on the bazaar you can ask more than usual and people will buy because they are desperate and don't want to have to pay to travel to another place and back again.

Crate wise...a 405/41 Stim B Crate I am currently selling for 70k. Another doctor friend of mine is selling for 75k..his are a little better than mine. I've had people say these are awesome and want more crates, and I have had people laugh and say they are overpriced. Stim B Crates without the adv chem component are selling for around 50k because of the herb meat not being used (which is very pricey atm on Lowca). I've seen people sell some Stim B crates for 25k-30k but they aren't near as good as the 50k ones...only have 30 charges instead of 41 or so. Big difference.

My question is how do you price revive packs? I had a request for some and didn't know what to charge and didn't have any to spare at the time. So I made some 12 use ones, not great because I used no adv parts and used crappy dant berries, which I will never use in an adv part, for the organic component. I was thinking 100 per use. Does this seem fair or too high?
