Hello Everyone,

I am saving to get a factory to assist me in my medical crafting. I am conserned about this due to all the posts I have read about the factory bugs. Since I am rather poor this is a large investment for me.

I thought about getting a factory when i become a doc, but then I realized that using a factory would in no way help me get the doc crafting xp that i needed (like 10% of the normal I think..if you are near). Considering the amount of crafting xp required to get tomaster of that tree, I personally think you should wait to build a factory until you get Master of Doctor Medical Crafting. I havemade some macros that help a greatdeal to grind my wayup the tree. Once I get to the master level then I will gobuild a factory (the crafting xp isa mute point then).

Just myopinion.

My opinion is wait until they fix the 100 item per day limit thing and then get one. Right now it is just an albatross around my neck sucking a lot of maintenance and power for a meager 100 ABEC's. Once you cancomplete multiple runsand once you can actually pull from crates (kind of can now) then you will REALLY want to get one.

I got a factory originally as a way of keeping myself and friends (who were just novice medic) supplied without having to waste all the time crafting. If this is your reason, go ahead and get it. Even with the 100 limit (although I seem to be lucky enough to do 200 a pop) making 100 of an item in 4 days beats having to waste the hour or more it would take to craft it all. I also ended up finding the factory very lucrative even with the current issues. I sell out of stim Bs, wound medpack Bs, stim Cs, and pet stim As every day on the bazaar. Once you get the factory, money starts to roll in. I also have backorders from other docs and combat medics for crates of BECs and enhance packs. My advice is to use normal components that you find on planet for your stims at first and save the advanced components solely for enhance packs.

For inventory reasons, I would try to get through a run of 500-1000 of each subcomponent before making the stims and such. Since it all requires the same serial number and pulling from crates seems to require 2 crates of that type. That way you load up all the crates in the ingredient hopper and give only enough of the organics and inorganics for a run of 120, 250 or whatever. Despite the current issues, I wouldn't give up my factory for anything.

One last note: I've seen prices for power coming down a bit (to more of a 1-1 or less cost ratio) on the bazaar and since factories require a little power you might also make sure you have the issue covered.

With regards to tipping for me it has come down to staying in the same area (for me at lease). It happens all the time where some one comes up to me and says "Chinchilla! I remember when you were a wee novice medic". Building a repore (sp?)with local folks helps them appreciate you (especially when you are a novice medic and you spend 15 minutes + healing their 800+ health\action wounds..using up all your hard crafted packs and having to go craft some more while they wait).

It also is a choice in the area you work out of. If you can work out of a busy city like Bestine (non-stop wounded come into the med center long into the night) a lot of times you will get heavily wounded top tier players desperate for heals. I have gotten tips as small as 100 credits to some as large as 20,000 (I'm serious ...I have gotten tips like that for those of you who are ready to flame me :smileywink. I have been working out of Bestine since I started as a medic (traveled a bit..but mostly in Bestine)so I have a lot of regular customers and they all know how hard I work to heal them (they are in and out...no matter how bad they are wounded in less then 2-3 minutes on average).

Anyhow..that is how I do it and I am making a lot of credits this way...and I am having fun too (remember that?). And during the slow periods?....its all about grinding. I have a number of crafting macros that make grinding much easier then clicking away.

Anyhow....have fun and enjoy being a Doctor.

I can't understand why many doctors are poor and say that is an issue. I have between 100-200K on me and making close to 50k purchases every week. That is all without hardly ever doing missions. I often get 1000+ credit tips but maybe it's just my server or just the fact I often do 200+ wound heals to get people out quickly. I also encourage the pets to come to get healed which the CHs often give a nice tip for. But, by large, my money is not based on tips but on selling my wares in the bazaar. I usually scope the market a bit on resources to find which ones are not selling (or which are not stocked with quality resources). I usually find a city that doesn't have many producing quality stims and woundpack and unload the 25 limit of bazaar items on it. I think those in larger cities probably have a harder time selling stuff since there are so many putting pharmecuticals out there. It's best to scour the planet bazaars tho and find where you might be able to unload your wares at a decent price. I tend to follow the stim B "convention" of (heal power * charges / 10) credits so a 250/20 (crappy but for ease of example) stim B would sellfor 500 credits. Some say this methodis too much but I never have a problem selling. When I go lower, things sell out too quickly so that some who are not on at the right time aren't able to find quality meds at that city. It's really business economics and you need to figure out the right price that works for your galaxy/planet/city. When selling resources I tend to follow a 1 to 3 ratio for high quality stuff that no one else is selling but will go lower at times. If stuff sells out too quickly at 1 to 3, I might go 1 to 4 but would rather not. At the moment I don't care if my stuff even sells since I just want a stockpile for friends. I would actually love to see more competitive stims and such in the market so I could just have my stockpile all to myself.

Darn,

I was hoping to get crafting xp by using the factory. I am so tired of the mindless click here click here. All my friends are out having fun and begging me to come along to heal them. Well, I tell them it requires lots of stims for me to be of any use to them.

I also wanted the factory to help me fund myself. It takes a large amount of time to craft a bunch of stim b's and then try to sell them for a reasonble price. Which would lead me to my next question. How much do you guys sell your stim b's for? I am currently selling them for around 300 to 350 depending on the final healing it does. Does this seem fair or am I selling it too low.

Is it just me or is every Doctor out there poor. I have a hell of a time getting tips to heal wounds in the med center. I can't count how many times someone just runs out when I'm done.

Lastly, I wanted to thank you all for all the advice and help you have given me.

Just to throw my two stims in....

It depends on what you consider poor. Depending on how many off-planet trips I make, I generally have about 80k sitting in the bank. Now, how much of that came from tips? Maybe about 1/10 of it. Although I have gotten a couple of nice tips lately (couple for 1000, one for 5000), I have had nights (like last night incidentally) where I was doing some decent healing, and only got one tip for 100 credits, and then sold a food/chem device to someone for 250 credits.

Most of my money comes from either A) Running a couple of delivery/destroy missions every so often or B) Selling resources that my personal harvesters bring in. The harvester process took me a little longer to start up, but once I got the hang of it, the only money I lose is when I sell the resources at one price today, and then someone wants a bunch of it at a higher price tomorrow.

As for folks running out, yeah, it happens to us. I would like to think that there was some way to fix this for us medics/doctors, but I am not the most creative person around.

I would say 80 % of my money goes to maintain harvester and pay the maintenace on the house and vendor. I do run alot of delivery mission since I am not the fighting type. Now that want to produce better stims using advanced componets I now have to factor in the trip cost to those planets. I just don't understand or have not been clued in on how some players have over 200K at any given moment. If I have 10 to 20K at any given moment that is alot.

P.S. Once again thank you all for the advise.

I just got master doctor last night. Most of my med crafting xp came from factories. I played since release and have been running up to 7 factories so although you can get enough xp from these, it takes a while.

Based on my experience when I went to Lok recently, you probably were.
