what would be the best choice for race and for the nine stats of someone who would be a pistoleer/doctor. I know I'm not doing anything new, but I just want to do it to have fun, thats all. Just for fun. Anyway, thanks for anyone who answers.

The SWG cycle:
1 - "This game is AWSOME"
2 - "Oh MAN! That battle was AMAZING!"
3 - "I'm really getting sick of this grinding, but I'm almost there!"
4 - "I swear if that bug happens again, I'm quiting!"
5 - "Oh screw this! I'm quiting"
6 - Repeat from step 1

I took the doctor and the marksman and put their startign points side by side and split the difference between the two to come up with my doctor's starting stats. I have adjusted them since then, and depending on race you will need to do some tweaking.

I found it a good base though, and you can adjust to be more fo a healer or more of a pistoleer.

Hope this helps...

Doctors need Mind/Focus/Willpower and lots of each if they want to be good at healing a lot.

Pistoleers need Action/Quickness/Stamina and lots of each if they want to use specials a lot.

Health you could skimp on given how easily you can heal it.

If you're gonna solo you could also go for higher pools than secondary stats and use high stims to complete heal them as necessary. Wookie would be good for that, but can't wear armor (which might hurt in PvP).

Highest mind regen is Zabrak. Highest mind pool is Mon Cal.

Highest action regen is Rodian. Highest action pool is Bothan.

Bothan has the highest total bonuses to the 6 stats I mentioned if you consider them all equal.

I'm just quoting from this webpage which may or may not be accurate:

Head there and choose the one you like best.

As a doctor you can buff your stats any way you like regardless, so I don't think you can really make a wrong choice for this combo.

I wouldn't sweat the stats too much - make good quality enhance packs and it won't matter.

Focus your stats on the Actiona dn Mind areas. You really don't need to worry to much about Stamina, as you can heal rather than regenerate. But a high quickness can keep the HAM costs down pretty low and you can use your specials often. Put points heavily in all mind related stats so you can heal efficiently, of course.

I am a doctor/pistoller and my approach to stats has been to max all 3 minds stats and then balance the action and health pools. I put no points into the action and health substats. the reason for this is 2 fold. 1: you can easily buff all the stats except mind for huge amounts (reason to max mind stats) and 2: the other stats are healable which takes mind. i find this to be very effective in all situations with the exceptiion ofPvP where your opponet has a mind attack. I carry a nicecomposite helmet slicedwith reduced encrumbrace to help with these situationsand found it to be pretty effective. I also carry a spice called muon gold the kind i have gives plus 500 to all mind stats. with this combo of fully buffed on all stats. you are a very deadly force. also using stims that can heal for 1000-2000 on BOTH pools. so i think u get the idea.I am also human race some would suggest zabrack for the added willpower but u also lose out on focus ( i might have those backwards) so IMHO human is the best bet maybe wookie if you dont want to use the helmet (although i just doine like them and would never play as one they do have the best stat bonuses by far). sorry if this seems like a brag its not at all. im just trying to build a mental picture of how I have built my chracater in order to help you develop yours not saying my way is perfect I'm having allot of fun with and im sure there could be improvements,

I'm a zabrak and my stats are

800 health

300 strength

300 constitution

900 action

400 quickness

300 stamina

1000 mind

500 willpower

700 focus

Not 100% sure about the mind stats, but they're all maxed (pre-bug)

I'm a human and i maxed everything except health and action, which are now at 475

the good side:I can have some minor to moderatewounding and still put on my full protection sliced composite without worry. After all, it's not practical to call out the droid after you just took a good lick to heal your wounds and put on your armor so you dont die in the middle of a fight

the bad side: if a kreetle looks at me the wrong way and I'm not buffedI run like a little girl.

I didn't migrate to these stats until recently when they 'fixed' the buff packs, but now I can get away with it... and it's great

Maximize mind, focus, and willpower. The rest you can buff.

Your choice of race should most definitely be the one you think you'll enjoy the most. I have friends who are now regretting their race choice because they picked it by choosing the one with the racial bonuses they thought would help them.

Your most important stat by far is your mind. So put your mind and secondaries maxed out or as close to max as possible. You can keep your health and action regens quite low since it's much faster to just heal yourself.

You will be migrating your stats as your doctor buffs get better. I can now use enhance health D and action D, and C's for the secondaries. So I dropped my health, action and the secondaries by a LOT and maxed out my mind and mind secondaries. In some cases, like the health secondaries, I dropped them to the lowest limit. It's overkill for me to be running around with over a 1000 for my health and action secondary attributes.

I'm a human Doctor/Pistoleer. I set my HAM up as 800/800/1000. I don't remember my exact regen stats, but they're basically 400/450 in the health area, 400/450 in the action area, and 500/600 in mind area. It's worked fairly well for me so far. It's certainly not the best min/maxing, but it has fit my play style pretty well and generally keeps my Mind Pool high enough that I can heal effectively. I don't PvP at all, so if you plan on doing that you might want to distribute your points a bit differently.
