Okay guys, this is just a survey so please chime in with your much appreciated oppinions!

I was thinking of new ways to make money as a doctor and I was trying to think of things that have annoyed me in the past. One thing that came to mind is actually something quite recent. Item DECAY.

So I was thinking, how much would you pay to NOT have to clone with TONS of wounds and all of your hard earned items decayed on you. Would you pay, say 10k to have that NOT happen? Well, here is my idea...

You are in the field running missions, exploring, whatever suits your fancy, you get aggroed by some uber beastie who kills you in a matter of seconds without blinking an eye. "Crap" you say. "Now I have to clone with all of my items decayed and a crapload of wounds" (assuming you forgot to clone). "I wish I could just call a doctor and have them come and ressurect me."

Well, guess what.. Now you can.. Just send a /tell to your favorite local doctor and he will travel from any location to where you are and bring you back to life for just one low cost of 10k per trip.

Now, doctors, lets put this into perspective, if you did this just 10 times per night, that's 100k!! Now how many think it would be worth it to pay 10k for this service. Keep in mind, you could possibly have to lay there for about 9 minutes doing nothing but being dead.. But how long would you otherwise spend in the cantina and med center..

thanks,

Its a good thought, but I don't think its practical. Cloning costs 1K and insuring items should exceed 3K (well I've never seen it get that high at least) so 4K in preparation versus 10K to be lazy? Sounds little overpriced. Add in the timer for revives that no one really knows the length of coupled with potential shuttle wait times, and the doctor could end up losing out (pay for shuttle trip and run out and not be able to do the revive).

Players will pay for the revives if the items they have are valuable enough they want to avoid decay at all costs, but other than that there isn't much call for it outside of groups.

Its a valid means of getting credits certainly, but I doubt it will ever reach the amounts made by selling buffs. I'm will ing to give the service a shot, but more likely ata 5K charge and only if I'm on the same planet as the corpse.

You make some VERY good points!! Exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for..

I especially like the part about only providing the service on a given planet.

You said something about "revive timers". Should I take that to mean that if a corpse has been laying there for a certain period of time, you can't revive it? Is there an estimation on how long these MIGHT be?

Thanks for the reply!

Actually, this would be a great idea if there wasn't a timer on the ability to revive fallen players. Currently, the timer seems to be bugged as there have been reports of it going off in 30 seconds and others have gone 30 minutes without it going off.

Basically, this timer tells you when a corpse is "too old" to be revived. Get there after the timer has expired and no love for you. Of course, there's no way of knowing when this tmier goes off until the trusty doc tried to revive you. Then all you can do is pray.

For this service to really work, you'd have to have the doctor along with you. Of course, if the doctor is there and getting paid to revive you, kinda cuts down on the incentive to heal you, doesn't it.

Never underestimate the power of /dragincapacitatedplayer!

You can pull people from out of danger from 30m away, which is usually far enough to not get aggroed. Of course, if you do get aggroed - run for the hills and spam /dragincapacitatedplayer. You'll pull that dead meat as fast as you can run.

Wouldn't you know it, /dragincapacitatedplayer was one of the last commands in the game to have an icon for it that you could put in your toolbar. Yeah, that's right - when I'm in the middle of combat, the first thing I want to do is type /dragincapacitatedplayer.

Actually, this is what I like to call a "keep alive mission" and I don't charge a set price for them. I usually end up getting 25k+ for them though.

Actually, I usually have pretty good luck with not getting aggroed. I guess that's why I'm brave enough that I would at LEAST attempt it. Of course, I could very well end up calling one of you!

Go to the force caves and charge all those annoying campers 25k for a revivie. Many times they will pay it, with a lot of cursing. But it serves them right for camping.

I heard some Doctors were charging 20k to buff and 10k to Rez people in those Force Cave. Sounds like a good way to make money off the Holocron Craze.

Those guys can afford it since they sell Holocron for 2 millions to 6 millions.

and here I am wasting my time buffing at the Theed Starport for 5k and getting very little business while guys in the Force Cave will pay 10k just for a Revive!

When vehicles come out just grab a swoop, head to Dantooine, and tell groups about your service. The swoop can cruise pretty fast. You might have a 2500M - 3000M range that you could get to them in time. If someone is out with a group, it would save them from having to clone and run back out to their party to continue hunting. You could also offer healing services for 3K for a trip plus 2K per person. This would turn a Doctor into the ultimate EMT. Can you picture Master Doctors flying from one group to the next healling and collecting thier fees. Here comes Dr. Uber on his trusty steed (swoop) to save the lives of all and bring the dead back to complete their mission.
