Thread: Does PE on resources really make a difference when crafting?
Actually, in most cases, PE is just as important as OQ.
Check out the FAQ - PE is VERY important.

I know for meds and buffs as a Dr, you need OQ, But does PE really matter when making meds and buffs? Does it give the med or buff a boost at all? Or does it not give enough to make it worth spending more money on PE?
PE is very important I have found.
Yes PE is 1/3 of your formula for making things.. It's also an average based system
Example BEC.. OQ of both materials 1000, PE 1000 on the organic and no PE on the inorganic.
OQ=(1000+1000)/2 = 1000*.66 = 666
PE=(1000 + null) = 1000 (no PE on the inorganic results in it being null otherwise it would be /2) 1000*.33=333
Max experimentation: 666+333=1000 So you'd have the possibility to max out this item. (I'm rounding here) 100%
Now let's do that with a PE of 100
OQ=(1000+1000)/2 = 1000*.66 = 666
PE=100+null= 100*.33 = 33
Total = 666+33 = 699
So this item you'd only be able to get about 70% max experimentation.
Rough numbers, but you get the idea.. Also it's hard to tell what the final outcome will be. Some items that 30% difference may only result in a 2-3 point drop in something or may make the difference in 20-30 points. So it may not be as noticeable in some products as others, but it's very important.

This is correct for the formula as a whole, but not for the individual resources. In your example, since the inorganic doesn't have a PE attribute, the PE attribute of the organic is weighted twice as heavily as the OW for the organic. Therefore, for the organic resource, the PE attribute is just as important as the OQ rating.
Like I said earlier, you can check the FAQ for a complete breakdown.
