Just been readin' a nut job over on the BH board (he has alreadyhad another accountperm-banned from the game). Apparently a Doc on Dantooine buffed a Jedi who was being currently hunted. This caused the Doc to have a BH TEF (one that is in no way identifyable on the Doc's character). The BH arrived, saw he could attack and did so.

With the wave of new Jedi about to come into the game, their need for buffs and the apparent lack of knowledge of what gets someone on the terminals and thusly MANY new targets for BH... well you can decide if the BH's on your server are honorable enough not to shoot a doc who's buffing.

It sounds like a recycled issue from before there was icon showinga TEF.

There where many times my alt was attacked for simply healing someone that wondered into the medcentre I was in (before the TEF icon was introduced).

It's a double edged sword, on one hand it's not honourable to attack the Doctor providing the buff and on the other hand how does the BH know if the Doctor is an innocent bystander or actually aiding the Jedi.

It's a Catch 22 situation.

Also my understanding is that the Doctor has this TEF until server reset.

Technically, you should be able to see the little Faction insignia next to the person's name if they are factionally TEF'd. Besides, it WAS a problem - not knowing who was TEF'd or when - so they did install the flag. To my knowledge, this flag does NOT activate if you get BH TEF'd from buffing a hunted Jedi.

Heh I can see it now:

"Hey John?"

"Yeah Jack?"

"See that Doc over there charging 25K per buff?"

"Yeah. What a **edit**."

"Tell you what? I'll go get a mission for your Jedi character, you head over there and get a set of buffs from him."

"LOL"

"Yeah,it'll teach HIM to charge more than 10K."

If a Doc gets a TEF the BH would be in a hard position:

Option 1: He's innocent and was doing his job

Option 2: The doc knows the Jedi and would attempt to kick the BH back to backwater tatooine..

Thing is if the doc gets TEF'd it means he must be a threat...although it isn't always true it should be something to be taken into consideration.

Jedi need buffs like everyone else (as much as I hate to say it..) but this TEF for buffing might be a little hard to differentiate. Perhaps if it could be coed for heals and not buffs?

(even though Buffs are classified as a heal.bah tough thing)

If a doctor is treating woundsor buffing a BH or a Jedi who has a bounty TEF, the doc should get a pop-up window saying "if you heal this person, you will become vulnerable to attack by the patient's enemies." Give the doc the option not to get the TEF by cancelling the healing. Therefore no TEF will be applied without the doctor's intention.

I'm sure everyone who utilized public buffing would be in support of that. I know I would be ticked if I was in line for a buff and someone killed my doc, just as I'm mad when a jerk runs off with the doc's droid again and again. With the support of the community of players, a quick fix such as this would happen fast.

Sad, but you know it will happen.

I like the pop up window idea. Let us know what we are getting into here.

A bounty hunter's POV...

Doc (to Jedi): You know you've got a TEF by the way?
Jedi is now aware someone has a bounty on them, and can mess that up by logging off for a short time.
We may have been tracking this particular jedi for a couple of hours and now everything is up the swannie...

Why are TEF'd docs attacked?
You might rez the jedi, and we don't want that - we want them to clone...
Or, you might heal them during battle - are you a friend? we don't know - and that makes our job harder.

Granted, attacking you after you have resurrected a Jedi is griefing, as it is making use of a bugged TEF.
If you have a TEF before he's DB'd, then you are, unfortunately for you, fair game.
