Thread: Balance and just wait for all the second accounts
I've posted this elsewhere but it needs to be said here. By the way, kudos for those who put together the issues list for doctor balance.
What the force sensitive slot holo race has revealed, once again, is that the game continues to be massively biased towards combat-related professions. This is not to say that docs can't become effective tkms or other such fighters by spending skill points (unless like my character you're a wookie doc, which is the weakest of the weak given the one benefit you get as a class - armor - is irrelevant), but as a non combat prof you simply aren't going to be able to get a holocron unless you either a. group with a fair group or b. beg friends.
The real issue is that any sort of advancement in the game in a non-combat profession in any real terms remains much slower than in a bang-em-up one. What bugs me more about this iis that even the nerfs are biased. For instance...when the t21 rifle was truly nerfed, it took about a week for people to complain to get it fixed to some degree. Yet...the changes to harvesters have just destroyed the bank accounts of those of us who buffed/healed/sold bit by bit and saved, saved, saved for heavy harvesters and then discovered they're now medium harvesters. Bye-bye 2 million credits worth of work. Do you really think if they'd done this to a lifeblood combat skill this would stand?
Now we have the fact that Jedis don't 'die' if they get rezzed by a doc. Guess what. Any serious Jedi that can afford it will be rolling up a second account VERY shortly. And guess what they're gonna play. you guessed it. A Doc! (And you know, while this is good for my woundpack biz in the short term. of course in the days when advanced components were hard to find it was very hard to advance to master doc, but now a single good 140 heal b woundpack gives you 3-5k doc exp. Not hard to grind that way!)
So, congrats Sony. You've made us a second class profession for a while, but the second account profession is new. Yet, to make a viable character, you have to give up skill after skill to keep doc working. Heck, the only good news is thatI will not have to keep searching for holos with this character - since he's clearly on the road to being a support-only one for a Jedi. Well done again, Sony.
