Thread: Better solo choice CM V DR ?
Hi there
if you solo mostly ...which do you all think is better choice ? Doctor with buffs ...you cant rez your self I know ...or Combat medic with disease and such ...I like going out shooting but do not often get chance to find a group
I have the qualifications for either but not both so need to make choice and I need some advice
thanks in advance for any replies/suggestions
Doctor. You don't really need ranged or area heals if you are soling (though they are occasionally useful with pets), so regular Stim-Es are perfectly adequate. Buffing and cures and state healsand 29 extra skill points all make doctor better than CMs for solo PvE.
Many thanks to you all for your replies ...here comes a new doctor !!!
my mother always wanted a doctor heheheheh
thanks !
This is my current soloing character and it works quite well and this is what the final workup would be using 249 character points:
Master Doctor
Combat Medic 4-0-0-4
Pistoleer 0-2-3-1
You get the best of all worlds:
Disease and pestilence in one hand, healing, resurrection and buffs in the other. You also have enough combat skills to put a good hurting on someone or to get out of a jam.
I get full Master Doctor benefits andI get all benefits of CM except for Ranged Heal Speed and Crafting. Just buy the CM poisons, diseases and other meds and you are set. You also don't need Scouting skill for Terrain Negotiation anymore beacuse you now get that from CM skill Support.
I hope this helps!
For PvP however, combat medic is the way to go. Their ability to use poison and AoE attacks makes them quite dangerous. A CM's abilities are not that useful by themselves against PvE.

I've done both CM and Doctor and I think Doctor is a MUCH better solo class than CM.
CM Poisons are great against other players that have 1K HAMS. You can drop someone in a matter of seconds. Throw that at a creature with 10K HAMS, however, and you'll be running for your life for a while, waiting for that poison to take it down.
With Doctor, you get enhancements. These are great. You can raise your HAMS to 4K+ and your special moves won't cost you a thing - you can use every special you've got over and over again without killing yourself. Not to mention, with 4K health and some decent armor, a doctor becomes a pretty decent tank all on his/her own.
If you really want to get serious, get yourself a pet with light armor and enhance its health, action, constitution, and stamina. You'll end up with a pretty beefy pet without having a single point of creature handler skill.

Bah.
CM is worthless unless you Master it. The extra +25 skill mods that you get at Master are pretty much a necessity to be able to land the posions/diseases effectively. *shrug*

I'm not completely convinced of that. *If* you have a CM med supplier who will make you the good stuff, all you really give up by not being master is:
1) 12.5% of your range (by having 25 less healing range)
2) 12.5% of damage (by having 25 less CM effectiveness - a bit more than 12.5% actually since it only goes up to +90 right now)
3) A lot of speed
The speed only matters if you intend to throw multiple meds anyway (which is less critical if you have good weapons skills), so it is tougher to quickly stack an area on top of a single target poison.
