Thread: Zarlor... an issue

Doctors are the only ones that can cure disease.


Disease does not wear off (though i read it lasts 4 hours?) unless healed or cloning.



Now, here's a situation ive been running a lot into lately. Im on dathomir, i get diseased. No doc in group (theyre all buffing at the base).


Break from group when ham bars are 80% black.


Find master doctor... he wont cure disease...but offers to heal all my wounds for X amount of money.


Find another doc... wont cure disease unless i pay him 10k credits.


Find another doc... cant heal disease, not high enough.


Find another doc... heals my wounds without me asking him, I tip him 2000 creds. Hes happy. He keeps on buffing.


I give up and go back to group with my healed up wounds. 30 minutes later, im back to mostly black ham bars (thanks to the 6 occassions in which kamuriths 'increased' the disease on me, making the wounds come in FASTER).


Find a master doc... asks outrageous amounts of money for disease heal.


There are no other docs in dath at the time.


I end up buying a storage droid for 10k, put all my decayable gear inside, and i run out to become an enraged rancor's latest butt-itch.


Clone. Life is well.



You see, this issue of disease being unhealable and leaving us with no other option other than go to a doc OR just bypass doctor services by cloning is ridiculous. IMO, disease should STOP once it deals wounds up to 20% a player's ham bar. (aka, 20% of ham bar is black)


How about you docs pushing for the ability to VACCINATE vs diseases? Think of it as a buff. Apply vaccine and voila! you cant get diseased for 2 hours. And thanks to the shortage of master doctors that can be found in 1 planet at a given time, this would be a good money maker for docs.

Thats too bad you couldnt find a more helpfull Doc, however, its not unexpected on a planet like Dath. I always have a cure disease pack with me, and am more than willing to help out a diseased player.


Cure disease packs are not THAT tough to make. I would not ask for more than 1k per application ofthe pack. Most MOB applied disease can be cured with one application anyways.

The immunity/resistance packs for things like diseases is on the list in a couple of places, and has even been acknowledged by our Dev as an interesting idea as a Master Doc level skill.


Diseases, however, from MOBs (not those from players) don't last 4 hours. They last about an hour each. (Player diseases last for a lot less time, but tick for a lot more points.)


Of course if you keep getting diseased later that THAT disease is going to last an hour, making it look like you've been diseased for 4 hours.


At any rate I personally think those diseases do last for way too long.


But other than that your only other option is to get off-planet to find a more resonable Doc with the Cure Disease skills. How much are these "unreasonable" rates? And if you are hunting on an advanced Planet Docs will sometimes prices their heals accordingly since you can make so much more running missions on those planets. Overall, though, I personally wouldn't pay more than 1k for a cure.


In effect, though, there is little more I can do about this issue because affecting the playstyle of how much any Doc wants to charge for their services isn't something I think we can do anything about. So that part of the issue is likely just unaddressable outside of peer pressure.

unreasonable is 10k just for cure disease.


diseases last for more than an hour, ive been hit with 1 for more than 2 hours (and no, i wasnt in combat those 2 hours, i was doing harvester runs and crafting).


I understand theres nothing that can be done to tell players how much to charge... but the thing is, doctors are the one and only class that can cure a griefing effect that doesnt wear off for hours (if at all).


Im not pissed at some people being jackasses, i am pissed at the game itself for encouraging this blackmail.


'If you dont pay me what I want, ill let the disease keep you from playing for hours on end'.


And frankly, after that night, as I said above, I will never even seek a doctor to heal my disease. Ill store my things in droids for as long as that exploit works, and suicide.


Hopefully by then ill get the TKA meditate 4 tree and never have to look for a doctor to blackmail me... or to heal my wounds for that matter. Because of the actions of a few... actions that the game itself practically encourages, the docs on my server will not get bussiness from me. And word of mouth goes around, the droid eng. i bought the storage droid from got himself a lot of bussiness that night.... and many people were cloning disease off rather than tipping the docs that were nice folks for the disease cures.

Definitely a sad state of affairs. Those Docs definitely give the rest of us a bad name.


At least I can say that the state pack persistence, immunity and/or resistances are all things that are on the Doc Issues list.


If there is some support here from other Docs about MOB diseases being far too long, i'll be happy to add that as an issue. (Actually I'd like to add that one, as it is extremely annoying, IMHO, I'd just need more Docs to support the issue to get it added.)


I would also suggest bringing the issue up on that most dreaded of forums, SWG Discussion. The Star Wars Correspondent might be willing to add it to the general issues list.

I agree that paying 10k to remove a disease is outragous. I also play on Bria and have not been on Dath for awhile but look at heading back there for some adventuring, if you ever see me there and are diseased let me know. I usually cure people's diseases when i see them, will only heal the wounds that the disease caused if i receive a tip. I agree with Zalor that 1k is a resonable amount for disease cure. Espically diseases from NPC's or critters since they usually take one shot from a disease-A pack.
