Well, this might be in flux at the moment. The procedure would likely go something along te lines of TH asking for folks to send him a request to be the Doc Corre and why you think you should be the Doc Corre. Just like a paragraph or two is all we were asked to do originally. (Then again we didn't have TH to send it to, either. )

But that's the process we did. After that is was just a Dev decision after they checked out some of our posts on the forums to see out personalities and posting styles from that,I guess.

Either TH or I will let you know how this will work when i get more details (and see about another option that might keep me on in some form of Corre capacity.)

Zarlor, I think before we get more requests and I am sure this person is sincere in thier request. Can you give us an idea of the time commitment you currently dedicate each week to provide the level of support that you provide.

It might help some of us who are thinkng about becoming a correspondent, solidify our decision.

Thanks in advance.

Well, as a Sys Admin I have a LOT of spare time during the day. (As long as my servers are all running smooth and I make sure they are all patched up and secure, I've got lots of free time. ) So I probably spaned 3-5 hours a day reading the forums, compiling issues, responding to stuff, setting up and compiling the polls and so on. Luckily the Issues lists are already compiled so they only need to be maintained. The initial compilations where some of the hardest parts of it all.

Likely I could cut back on a lot of that now and I would guess 1-3 hours a day would be about enough if you just try to skim the forums more than try to read in-depth (especially for topics you know aren't really issues.) Some days preparing the polling posts or polling results will require more time.

Of course that's for setting things up like I have.

Others compile their lists more by what they think they are seeing the top issues as being, based on hot topic subjects on their forums. They sometimes poll just by making a Top 5 list and asking if that looks good. It probably takes them a lot less time to do things that way. So it really depends on how much time you want to put into it.
