Thread: Issues List Voting Results (12/01/2003)

Here's the results from the polling that ended today. Below are the 5 categories used and the new order of all the issues and you'll notice a 6th new category called Questionable Issues. This new category is for any issues that did not make it into the Top 10 of any of the Doctors polled. The issue(s) listed there will still stay in their respective category, but it is just there as a reminder and for discussion if that really is even an issue for us.


Just so you know there were a total of 121 different players voting. No category got a vote from all of the Doctors, but 62 of them voted in the Bugs list, 59 on Gameplay Issues, 58 on Balance Issues, 53 on Wishlist Issues and only 31 different Doctors voted on any of the Exploit Issues.The issue that got the most overall votes was Balance Issue #1, Medical Surveying, with 47 votes. That was a vast majority of the Docs who voted on the Balance list, but isn't even a majority of the Docs that voted (then again there were likely a lot of folks who only bothered going to the Bugs list for the Enhances from Crates issue).


At any rate, I will gather together the Top 5 issues from all of the categories below and begin a polling on your overall Top 10 vote from those issues. That new polling will likely last until we are again asked for a Top 5.

Hehe. I've been working on this. It's been in the Top Spot in the past 3 Top 5s and I thnk I've at least finally gotten the Devs enganged in adialog on it. We'll just have to see.


However, I've started working the issue from the premise, which is that because of the complexity and requirements of our crafting we don't have the basic tools we need to succeed in our chosen profession. So Surveying may not be the answer, but putting us on equal ground with the other Hybrinds would be an answer. For example, artisans have surveying for thier resource needs. Scouts have harvesting for their resource needs (I don't think any of the scout craftables require anything other than hide, meat and/or bone), Rangers mostly require harvestables, but those schematics they have which require other resources are failry simple and general in their nature and quantity for their requirements, and Musicians and Smugglers also require far less resources of a more general nature than we do and none of the hybrid crafters have any requirements for experimentation, meaning the quality of their resources is simply irrelavent.


So should we get surveying? That is one answer, but I think we really do need to find a compromise position here. Certainly not surveying as it is given at Novice Artisan, I don't think. Perhaps a gimped form of it. But that's is just one possibility. What about a reduction in the quantities and a more general openning of the requrements for our crafting? Why specific and rare resources if no other hybrid crafter is limited in that way? These are all possible solutions in part or taken together that could help alleviate the core issue of why we would need survey or harvesting to begin with.


So I've started ont he Devs with the premise of how and why thi is an issue for us and why it can make being a Doctor cumbersome and less enjoyable than it could otherwise be. Wish me luck.

You seem to have overlooked my suggestion about doctors not being able to pull out their medical droid without a camp.. and being forced to retain the Scout skill so as to not go insane.


Anyway, I noticed that it's already been raised as issue by the devs directly... but it still can't hurt to mention it here again.


So please add it, ok?

New issues don't get added unless they are in a seperate thread. Then they need to have a few other Docs respond and support the idea that it IS an issue. Then I add it to the list.
