Thread: Additional Factory Schem slot?

I Was thinking. I've not been in this situation before, so it never occurred to me.

So, there i was, some great Lok Wheat spawns and i pick up my temp factories, and run off to place the Harvies. When i am in this situation i usually have to juggle around my schems, and resources/subies to continue with my production. Obviously i sacrifice something in favour of something else. In this case stim B's over ASDS..

Now, i was running off 3000 Stim B's all with exactly the same stats, so the name for them was exactly the same. (Stim.B.418.38) There i was, not knowing which schem belongs to which factory. I have to look at the schem, then the factory input hopper to match up the serial numbers.

So, we finally come to my idea. Wouldn't it be handy if there was a storage space for another schem? You could have, taking my example.. Stim B's running, which you have to put on hold to make some SDS's. You move the stim B schem to the holding area, and then place the SDS in the main schem slot. once the SDS's has completed, you move the stim back to main, and continue with production.

/shrug, this has prolly been mentioned before.

I may be missing the complexity of the situation, but you could probably keep the schematics straight by moving them to a storage droid (perhaps several).

As to the idea of a 'production queue' in your factories, it would be pretty cool to be able to put 18k wheat, 18k fiber, 16kherb, 16kC4, 16koats, 16kdolovite into the input hopper and queue up 3 schematics in the factory and then not have to come back for 6 days. However, I don't see the devs implementing this anytime soon. If you are running in full factory runs (or reasonably large partial runs), then it isn't all that inconvenient to have to swap out the schematics when the time comes, in my opinion.

Its not, that its all that hard, just and inconvenience really. All i need to do is look at the serial numbers in the factory (input hopper) then find the schem in my datapad and place it back in.. Its, just.. well.. you know a pain

Production queues is what I really want. I would schedule 5.5 days of subcomponent production for the week and let it run unattended and then put together 1.5 days of finished product using those subs for the weekend.Would be heavenly compared to trying to time factory runs to meet my pre-work or post-work windows of playing.

it would thinking about it, allow much more time to enjoy the game

i like you, try to fit in crafting/factory work before i go to work, and when i get back.. atleast this way, you could leave it running and go kill things for a while..

I may be wrong, but isn't there a limit of 1000 per schematic? I know my schematics destroy themselves when I hit the 1000 count. So making 3000 items of anything with the same number would not be possible.

yeah, 3 factories, 3 schems.. hence the post really.. sorry i didn't make that clear

ya, I think I asked for production queue about a year ago but the thought was that if they wanted us to be supper mass crafters they would just bump up the schem quantity.

On a very different but some out related topic. I would love if you walked up to a harv you could just pick it up and what ever was in your hopper would be placed in your inventory. It would just give you a yes or no warning like when you distroy something in your inventory. Having to empy the harv, put in some very long code, etc is a pain. I also wish your admin and name of the harv would stick with the harv when you redeed it, or at least give you the option.

My other dream is that we could select many crates or other items and pick them up or move them from output to input hoppers.

i BIG yes.. boy thats a pain in the arse.. you should be able to do a shift select all on the inventory... dragging and dropping 999 abecs, 666 acrdms and 33 sds's is somewhat tiresome...

Or have an option on the radial menu: 'transfer output to input'

Provided that the input hopper has the available space, all items in the output hopper would be moved to the input hopper.

OOOH! i like that idea, Ojes.. Yes, prioduction queue is what we really need. Rather than waste a few hours sitting around waiting for them to be done to load another schematics in for another component run, this might save us some time... Oh i hope they implement this

I've always liked the idea of data storage for schematics, whether this would be utilising droid's date storage or additional factory storage for schematics, or another method...

When I started out in game, a group of myself and 2 other crafters used to share 1 (yes only 1!) factory between us! It's hard to believe now as we all have about 10 each, but we were so young...

Anyway, the point is if we weren't all online at the same time, it would be a bit of a pain if people didn't match the humber of productions a schematic could make with the resources they put in - obviously if you match it the schematic destroys itself. So we'd find we were constantly removing each other's schematics, and trading them back to each other! A bit of a pain which could have been avoided were there some way to store them.

exactly, when i first started out i was sharing 6 factories with a chef.. i'd end up removing his schems all the time. then having to trade them back... was a right old pain in the neck... with an option to store 1 schem and use one, it would remove this problem.. also, for selfish reasons would allow me to put one schem on the back burner while something more important is made.
