Yes, but SOE says the forum poll doesnt reach all players and doesnt capture the true overall opinion of all players. In SOEs point of view, the people taking the forum survey are not representative for the whole player base. Now counter that!

Dont trust any statistic that you didnt "tune" yourself

That response always gets me. Apparently the devs need a lesson in statistics. If they don't consider a forum poll to be accurate, then they shouldn't conduct the polls at all. The polls either reach a statistically significant sample of the player base or they don't. You can't declare the results of a poll meaningless just because they aren't what you want. The validity of a poll is not determined by its results. If the devs are really deceiving themselves about the response of their customers, then they are just setting themselves up for disappointment.

Even politicians know better than that.

Well, a politician wouldnt question the poll itself, he would probably say something along the lines "I expected polls to be like this because there is still a lot of buggy code in the CU. As soon as those bugs are gone, polls will rise. This poll is just a benchmark on how effective we were at bug fixing when we get the good polls later on"
But a politician would do this poll also.

As much as it sounds like a cop-out SOE is right. When people take the time to post/vote it is usually done to grouch/complain. Those most likely to vote in a poll like the one above are those discouraged by the CU and wanting to vent a bit. Those who are enjoying themselves are doing just that, enjoying the game. Besides, the response to any major change is always heavily slanted towards the negative, regardless of the quality of the change. People just don't like it when the world gets turned upside down.

That doesn't make such polls useless though. They are much like a psychologist using the Rorschach test. It has absolutely no actual diagnostic value but it allows the psych to get a feel for the patient, to see which way the wind is blowing, that sort of thing. The polls serve the same purpose.
