Here's a thought, seen as Doctors are meant to be along for support in combat should we (and probably Combat medics) have accuracy/damage bonuses vs PCs/NPCs similar to the one rangers get against creatures?

Just a thought but it would make sense that we should know the most vunerable spots on humanoids from our medical knowledge, and it could help us better fufil our roles as combat support when the going gets tough.

What do people think, good, bad, indifferent?

I'll give that a:

Hmmm... interesting.

Certainly makes sense. But then Player to hit bonuses sound a bit scary, NPC's I cant see a problem with. But then aren't CM debuffs pretty much the same thing?

Well I wouldn't anticipate any major bonus, but maybe a little something to make up for the fact we have zip in the way of ranged/melee accuracy (at least as far as I'm aware), and are minimal defensive bonuses. We may be focused on healing as a profession but as this is in a combat scenario it seems odd that we don't have a single offensive bonus (even if it is a minimal one). Perhaps it might unbalance the interplay between professions, but I'd love to see some testing to find that out, +10 accuracy for an MD vs PCs/NPCs would make Doc a little less of a combat vacuum to pour SP into and it would not put us out of line with any other professions on paper. Alternatively just make it vs NPCs, and sidestep PvP balance

great idea, but realistically anything that is done to make the doc profession any more fun than a bugged image designer will be taken out before it goes live. everyone always wanted docs for buffs, but for some reason they believed they were at the docs mercy because they "believed" that they HAD to have buffs. now they are trying to stick it to docs to prove to everyone else that they are looking for equality. when in reality they are just killing the true doc proffesion. no longer will you see a pure doc. you will see people with doc in their template, but only as a secondary to help their primary combat prof. everyone thinks this is a good thing, but just wait till all the docs are through respecing or changing their templates to be that unstoppable bounty hunter that they refuse to do anything about. what will happen then is that everyone will suddenly wonder why they have to wait hours in a med center. they will cry and moan that there are no more docs. WHY would a person want to stay a doc though???? what incentive do we have??? we get to be a tank? oh great. thats what i ground my doc toon for..... so i could be a glorified combat medic with no poison. gimme a break. doc sucks now and is unplayable as a pure doc.

Well it's true we don't exactly scream great prof right now (although I do think our speed and action buffs are pretty dandy), but we do have to take the rough with the smooth. If the Devs want us to be a combat prof now then I do think a little more in the way of combat skills would be useful; if we are ment to be in the fight, especially with way hate works now, then surely we should have skills that let us get stuck in somewhat? I'm not saying Docs should be medical-offensive powerhouses (we'll leave that to the CMs) and ultimately the rest of your template will dictate how combat viable you are, only that we get some skills relevent to our redefined role post CU.

look pinkwarrior: ignore the facts all you want. the truth is the truth though. all we have left is the ability to heal wounds and damage. the buffs are a joke now and not even worth mentioning. sure. we can nerf every profession until its nearly unpayable, but all that will do is greatly reduce that profs population. no one has to pay 10k for buffs anymore, but its nearly impossible to find a doc to service you in any way now. and if a doc is smart, once you find him, that doc will charge you an arm and a leg for any services he still can render. wont be long though before they nerf our healing abilities too. basically make us a useless toon with absolutely nothing of value. im just fed up with it all. a doctor is not a combat profession. he is a support profession intended to be behind the battle lines providing a useful service for the combatants. buffs were very useful. the only reason people complained about them is because they couldnt get them for free. lol. boo hoo. now you will have to pay a ridiculous ammount for what you used to get for free..... simple damage and wound heals. hell. its the only thing we have left to support ourselves.
