Thread: MD -vs- MCM

Was thinking of adding M Doc or MCM to M Smuggler cause i plan on getting hunted by BH after Smug revamp....

Which one do you guys think will help me more?

Well IMO MD is for Melee people...and CM is better for Ranged...but it really depends what you want. Me personally in a PVP situation likewhat you are looking for CM would be better because of all the Debuffs. But thats just me.

Well, I agree with the above in part, but not fully. Rather than splitting it between ranged vs. melee, I think it's better as close vs. far.


As a smuggler you use pistols, which is a closer range than carbines or rifles. I think MD goes very well with pistols, as that is what I have. MD is much better for solo or when you are concentrating on healing one person, which is exactly what it sounds like you are talking about.


CM would be better for healing multiple people and the debuffing.


Really, either would work, just depending on what your preferences and playstyleare. That's one of the best things about the CU with all the combat professions, including the medical ones.


That's just my opinion, though.

There are two builds that I would suggest with M. Smuggler.


Option 1


M. CM, M. Smuggler, and 0004 pistols. The goal with this build would be to land a dot, then root and fall back, then come in and dot again, etc. Currently you can use a rifle to land the roots so you can stand back and root while your dot ticks and alternate with some damage shots.


Option 2


M. Doc, M. Smuggler, 4440 medic. Here you have lots of buffs and healing option to keep yourself alive. This is a good team work build becuase you can keep your team buffed.


If your worried about BH's then I would go with option 1. They most likely will not be able to heal dots and if you can keep them rooted/kd'd then you will be able to handle them with ease.

I am currently a MBH/Master Carbineer/4-0-0-0 CM and recently I hunted a Jedi that was very far up the CM tree if not a master and I was able to keep my self healed beyond the dots using Stim Ds, Bacta Spray, Bacta Toss. I had to alternate all 3 and I was using food to enhance the effect. I was never in any real danger of the dots. If you have some power behind the dots then absolutley but if you are reying on dots then the Post-CU CM will not get the job done alone.


By the way, are you the same Marrow that used to supply the buffs on Flurry so long ago?

By Dot I really ment Damage over time as well as debuffs such as E. Drain, T. rupture, etc. A nice peppering of those can be helpful if you have the time to land them. I also agree with your build in that the healing is more helpful than any dot when hunting jedi. Given your build vs the build I suggested with CM/Smuggler/Pistols it would be a very close call. Remember though, I was given smuggler and then asked what to add to it. Of course smuggler would not be my first choice to build a pvp template out of but if you want it for other reasons then by all means build a character from there.


Yes, I am the same Marrow. It was a sad day to see the CU come as far as the shop is concerned.
