Thread: A Question: Did I almost get scammed?

Someone called Tarqaq did the following.
I got a seemingly real mail from the bank saying "Bank Transfer Complete......"
It said 500,000 credits have been transfered escrow from Ok*** ****** (I know it started with Ok then some other letters) and blah blah.
I get a mail from a Tarqaq saying that he tipped me 5k for a buff, I say no, my buffs cost 10k. Then he replies "Oh, Sh*t i hit the enter button, can you tip me back that 500k"
I say no, I don't have 500k on me. I have only 132k of my money.
I relog and talk to him, I still don't have it.
I message my friend, because I am now suspecting a scam, because reloggin means this is probably not a bug.
He tells me it is a scam, and not to trade. So I don't.
How did the guy fake this??? It looks legitimate to me. It was a good thing I am poor, or else I would have tipped him back.

Either that guy was stupid or must think others are stupid, since the new bank transfer system change I haven't had a single problem yet besides some "tip-ahead" guys that tried to fool me. Hard to say from your side, and yes it IS a good thing you didn't have over 500K to think of that, I always keep track of how much I have anyhow so I would've noticed immediately of any mistake.

The message sender was actually, "bank" mabye he created a character with " bank" or something.

It's weird, I thought you couldn't create characters named 'bank'.

report the guy plan and simple, and he really must of missed the past 2-3 weeks since they made the change to the bank tip.

i DID just get scammed by this frak face. his kind will have a rep that will follow forever and i pray they ban his punk gosh dang i have no way with words while pissed off lol
neways yeah he scammed me. i was dumb enough to think it was a real bank tip FOR FOUR MILLION CREDITS!!!! and gave him an AV-21. anyone else beware of this shady guy.
i hope the csr's will sort him out.

hmm sorry to bump AGAIN...
but what you mean with "banktip changed in the last 2-3 weeks"
playing for aroudn 2-3 months now and as far i rememebr its always "bank" form the money sender

Yep this is necro posting and it's not allowed. If you think it's important enough to revisit the new topic, they want you to make a new thread for it. You can refer to this thread in your post I think, no harm in that right? Otherwise you might get in trouble.

He is known for that, as I was taken by him also, along with some other valcynites. Although docs always need to be aware of the bank tip scam (has to be from "Bank") this does deserve it's own Valcyn posting, and probably doesn't do much good in the Doc forums.

I agree,galaxy post would be best. There are more on the galaxy that would visit that over the doctor forum.

GAAH!!!! i know what he was doing!!!
hes trying to frame OKKIA ARIDIA for this. since hes a known scammer and admitted that he tipped it, he definately was trying to frame okkia..all makes sense to me..see Ok*** ****** that completes into Okkia Aridia. so yeah tarqaq is framing okkia here
