Thread: Armor and Health for Docs in relation to the CU.

Ok, it seems that the Doctor role after the CU will take on more responsibilities with healing then before. We will probably wonder out into hunting groups more frequently, and be expected to stay alive to heal others and be a valuable asset to the group. I'm fine with this. However I have 2 questions up for speculation that would play a major part of this new role.

1) If we're being seen as a combat profession for the purposes of the CU, then this would also have an effect on us:

As your character progresses through the skill tree, (s)he will learn certifications for certain weapons and armor types. Until your character has that certification, you cannot equip weapons or armor of that type.

That being said, what armor certifications do you suspect that Doctors will have, if any at all?

2) If we're also being seen as a combat profession for the purposes of the CU, how is our maximum health going to be affected? All the CU documents say that a "Maxed" Character will have 3000 health, but no real clarification on what being "Maxed" means. So, if we're a "Maxed (I guess this to mean master?)" Doctor, will we have the same health as, let's say, a "Maxed" TKA, or will we have a different maximum health due to the fact that we're not an elite fighting profession?

I know that those that do know the answers now cannot actually answer them, so these questions are more for speculation, and to see what people will expect. Myself, I don't see us with the same maximum health or armor certificaions as an elite profession, as we aren't expected to take the brunt of an enemy's attack. However, if we're not given at least a substantial amount of health and some armor, we'll end up being nothing more then cannon-fodder, especially to high-end mobs.

This was concern after reading the same statement the other day. We may have to have an elite combat profession in order to "keep-up" with hunting groups.

With that said, you have to also realize that a doc should not expect to be able to wear heavy armor. He needs to be mobile and fast so he can get around to heal everyone.

As an MAS, I can tell you that we are well aware of this. Most of us realize that we are going to have to produce every armor type after this revamp. Most of us, including myself have been gathering the resources that are currently needed to make these. Some of use are a little worried they may change the resource requirments though.... if they do that, just think what it will do to all professions.... armorsmiths have to start from scratch.
