Since we are not a combat class, will we be able torespecour doc skillpoints into a combat profession?

I suspect that you will be able to walk up to a term and allocate all the skill points you have used up any way you wish.

Doctor is considered a combat profession for the purposes of the CU. So, yes.

Yeah, the doctor and medic proffessions will both be included in the respec, but not all proffessions are. I hate leaving this class, but enhancing other players, weak buffs and healing the occasional wound does not really appeal to me.

Currently that is what Doctors are known for...Enhancing other players; while not everyone is a Bot, the general feeling of all players is that is all we can do.

To come off and say that the buffs will be weak is very....stupid. You can not compare the new system with the old one. HAM is changing, NPC's are changing, the "ability" to spam specials and basically use the"I Win" button changes. Maybe 10-20% buffs are going to be "perfect" for the new system. Give just enough HAM to actually provide a challenge unlike today.

And lastly, "healing the occasional wound"; Again you have no fact to back up that statement. For example, when we go out hunting today we have essentially 9k HAM. for 2-4 hrs depending on your habits. Even with a 9k HAM in the current set up, and wearing armor, we still (atleast me) rack up about 200 wounds in a buff session. In PVP in a 10 minute 1v1 duel I can rack up as much as 900 wounds. The problem with today is those wounds are spread accross all pools. In the new system, it will be 1.

Now totally assuming that wounds stay realitively the same. 900 wounds out of 3000....is going to serious hurt you in the long run. I think wound healing is going to become a huge part of the game like it was 3-5 months after launch....and I don't know about you, but that excites the hell out of me.

-Bingo... Though I am loosing crafting, one of my favorite activities, I gain a much more needed role in the actual process of playing the game. Docs will move from being "stop off" professions for the beginning or end of a play session, to active and vitalmembers of dynamic teams going after mid to high end content. We'll be even more important to new players and those that are switching combat professions as they may lose their 3k HAM advantage.

I joined a great guild about 3 months back, before that I was a crafter/buffer with some combat skills to break up the tedium. I have since been on high-level content hunts in group almost every night healing, rezing, tending wounds and states, and I have to say that is the most fun I've EVER had as a doc. It kind of feels like what I thought the profession would be when I first chose Novice Medic on day one.

The CU seems to encourage/force a return to this sort of playstyle, and I for one, am looking forward to seeing how it works out, and the variety it may bring to the game.

I think there is a lot of speculation going on here. Once the CU is live, should be interesting how it all pans out.
