Just a thought, assuming pikie block get increased to same defence as other melee after the CURB and there is a reduced doc xp requirement because we have lost crafting...
Doc/swordsman and doc/pikeman with their area moves and superior abilities to self heal sound like the ideal people to have in front of you whilst pumping it out with your T-21's. What do you think? Have a great Easter

I have a strong feeling (and no evidence to back it yet) that all specials and/or blocks will only apply when equip'ed with the weapon of that profession. Such as you will only get the great blocks/defenses when equip'ed with a pike/sword, but you will have goos assault when equip'ed with the T21. We may have seen the end of defense stackers with the CU. But these are just my feelings and no proof yet. Other thoughts or opinions?

I am in total agreement. My Doc/Sword already is the guild tank. And after CU with everyone running around with 10%-20% buffs.... my ability to take-it and dish-it and heal-it will be even more in demand.
Hmm...docs.... the new Ubertemplate... might just make up for losing crafting and buff $bling$.

They've pretty much already said that stacking is a thing of the past. With the new prereq's, you won't have enough skill points to stack. I've also read that the particular defense will only apply to the weapon/skill equipped. I don't know if they're dropping skill points from Doc, or adding points to the remaining skills, or even filling the tree with different requirements, nobody's said yet. I'm hoping that Docs get a boost to defenses (like a +20 to melee and ranged defense), or the "cover" ability, so we can hide if things get really rough.

I guess it all depends on how max Health is determined in the new system...it was stated that 3000 is the possible max Health (starting from 1000).
With Doc in template, it's possible to master one elite combat profession...if this were to translate as 3000 Health...and hypothetically assuming that Doc gets healing bonues (currently, no healing bonues beyond master medic), Doc/combat could work as a 'tank'.
Though...I am guessing that 3000 max Health probably will be achieved upon mastering 2 combat professions (1000 bonus total from mastering one entire combat profession)...I could be totally wrong as they haven't said anything about how exactly a player gains Health bouns.
Leaving all other aspects aside and just focusing on the 'tanking' issue, I'd think CM/combat would be more effective than Doc/combat as CM utilizes both master medic healing bonuses and CM area healing bonuses...perhaps Docs will gain more injury treatment bonus as a player progresses through Doc profession??
IMO...I don't think new system intends to keep a healer as a 'tank'...we will fall under 'support' category...thus not very actively involved in actual combat, but support group by providing heals and such...maybe they will introduce Heal Other Player(s) ability to Doc and CM..and keep self healing ability within Medic
It's difficult to speculate anything with current knowledge we have for CU...though it allows us to be constructive with any speculation(s) we may come up with...I would like to see in-combat rez ability given to docs...we will probably die a lot more and frequently after CU
