Thread: BE still requires scout?

I though if you wanted to remain a crafting doc you could now get BE crafting line without needing scout.

well BE still has scout as a prereq?

Guess it must be a bug? right?

Yeah isn't that great! Now we can drop one of our master classes in order to pick up 0004 BE!

Here is my take on it:


Master BEs complined that they still need scout in order to do their profession-so even if it wasnt required it was still very much needed to be a True BE, ya know engineering pets and the likes.


Master BEs also complained that a Doctor with all them built up resources and medical suits would have all their money considering you can make everything with the lines x4x4 in BE and have all the exp. points PLUS the suits to make your meds and tissues better then a master level BE.


Docs are still somewhat rich from pre-cu....a Bio has never been rich...and not very easily done due to high levels of meat needed.



My thinking- and of course I am not a DEV or anything or anywhere near it....but I am thinking to combat the Doc/CM transfering to just xxx4 BE and or x4x4 BE, while still getting the benifit of being a doc and a combat profession...while the Master level BEs lose their buisness...they simply made it require scout...so that you had to choose to Craft or Combat. My BE is just a BE and some Rifles...she is a Level 21 and cant kill shhhh lol-yeah she isnt a Master level rifles and Yeah she has some skill points left...am I unhappy Nope cause I have a level 80 character that I can go out and do other stuff with....Am I telling you to go out and get another character if ya wanna do that part of the game AND do the other...well pretty much...the game isnt ment to be a catch all...and crafters typically have ALT characters that are some combat oriented character. Docs had it pretty smooth and awesome for a long time...you could craft high end high money earning stuff....you could sit and buff...you could go out and fight all in one....posch baby....


I UNDERSTAND why you are upset....you have all those resources rotting in your backpacks and factories and homes....you have the disire to craft your own meds as you always have...but let me ask you this....Does the medical professionals at Pfizer also midnight at your hospitle....NOPE...You have a choice....craft it or dont...to craft it takes X....to be a doc it takes X....to fight it takes X. U can be a doc and craft and NOT go out with people on hunts and such...or you can not craft and take combat skills and go out and heal/buff/fight. Its totally a choice...Hospitle Doctor or Field Doctor....


I am by all means NOT trying to be mean in anyway----I had the Same thing happen to me...Yeah I had a BE in my ALT box...Lucky me---let me tell ya though BE SUCKED before to me...which is why it was inactive account. I could never Buy meats of high quality cause they were typically Avian or Herbivor so the price was so high the chefs and tailors couldnt and wouldnt pay the amount it would cost to make them. I couldnt on my own go out and get enough meat to actually make a run of Chef tissues...(takes 20k of meat for one run which is what every chef orders-times each major tissues=80k of meat per chef so for the 110k per unit...lets see that 8.8 million dollars....chefs will only pay 20k per crate of tissues at most....2.4 million for the 3 ....and that 8million is just the MEAT we are not talking the other stuff PLUS the 2 days it takes to make the tissues in the factory...../end rant). So anyway now that BE has the medical crafting they are swamped...you will have the medical engineers, the chefs/tailor tissue engineers and pet engineers....some may dable in other catigories but generally you are going to pick one or the other. Medical stuff yeilds MORE but takes MORE to make....200 Units of avian for instance....thats a lota meat. Im not saying that you can not morn your loss of a cool thing by all means...but at least you now understand a little where a BE was coming from...

Bio-Engineers pushed for the requirement moved from Scout 0040 to Scout 4000, and docs were happy with no scout at all, as laid out in the original published CU docs. So neither of us got anything we wanted, it just stayed the same.

My guess is that somebody decided this issue is not important enough to be squeezed in before release, so it got pushed back. Probably with a real low priority

The orginal prereq for hunting was because everything a BE crafts, and I mean EVERYTHING, requires meat. The developersfelt a BE would want to harvest meat more than they would need mask scent. Keep in mind this was all done way back when BE's made animals that were marginally better than their wild counterparts but there were many other wild animals of the same CL with much better stats. To make an eopie all I needed was DNA of similar level. I didn't need to worry all that much about the stats of the wild animal. I could make higher level animals by going after higher level, non-aggressive mobs. Mask scent was nice but it wasn't a "must have."


When BE underwent the "Great Revamp" the need to sneak up on a larger variety of aggressive animals was needed because of the specific stats. BE's foundthat mask scentwas much more desirable than the need to harvest their own meat. This was when BE's first requested the prereq change.


Nothing changed back then. The issue wasn't even acknowledged by a developer. It doesn't surprise me that the issue has been completely ignored now. When I saw that scout was required in test I knew right then and there that scout would be required in live. It made no difference at all how many times people asked or brought up the issue.


SOE turns another blind eye and we act shocked. Hmmm....
