Thread: Need advice RE Doctor/Combat Medic
Hey all,
I've recently decided that I want to try to combine the best of Doctor and Combat Medic, but I'm at a loss as to how to do it. I don't know usage requirements for the med supplies and whatnot, and I'm having trouble figuring it out.
Currently this is what I've already achieved:
Marksman - Rifle Specialist and Ranged Support Specialist
Scout - Exploration 3
Master Medic
Novice Rifleman
Novice Combat Medic
Novice Doctor
I have 88 skill points left to distribute between Doctor and CM. I'd like to be able to craft and use as high-level stuff as I can. I don't care about causing diseases, but I'd need poisions. Revive would be a huge bonus as well.
Anyone help me out with this?

if u not gonna master CM dont get it at all...CM is one of the few classes that really needs to be mastered...
rifle is a poor choice in general for healers but oh well...
my template is
Master CM
Novice Pistoleer
Novice Artisan
Master Surgeon (doc treatment line)
Master Chemist (doc crafting line)
Doc med knowledge 3
This lets me revive and use buff Ds (H and A i dont bother with substats)
Thanks for the response. A few questions:
1. Why is Rifle a bad choice? Is it something other than the long delay, which isn't hard to work around for heals?
2. How do you survive without any of the Exploration line? ![]()
3. Why is CM crying out for Master? What am I missing if I don't Master it?
4. With your skillset you can use and make Enhance D's? What skill do you need to use Enhance D's?
Thanks

Thanks again.
Just for clarification, does Doctor's Medicine Knowledge 3 give you enough Medical skill to use an Enhance Pack D? I don't know the usage reqs for the Enhance packs, so I can't figure it out myself.

1. First rifle specials drain from mind = less mind to heal. Rifles are slow and will make it harder to heal..since healing fits in the combat queue in place of an attack. Ideal range issues..in order to be in the best range for rifle u will probably be far way from the party
2. Honestly its not a huge issue for me..i dont go into the boonies that much...master CM gets +10 terrain negotiation too
3. Well unlike doctor, all CM skills start a new...so getting anything less than master will gimp u. You start a new healing line, speed line, med use line and new crafting line. Also AOE C dots use master CM med use. Also higher CM effectiveness = higher damage on ur dots...
4. Treatment2 gives /healenhance i.e. Buffs Treatment 4 gives revive...master doc crafting means i can craft anything outside of Wound E packs (which are over kill anyways) and SubstatD buffs which i dont use so...
From what I understand, the MU required to use a reskit is covered when you get Novice Doctor. So you should be able to use them right away once you get Wound Healing 4.

First, I think I understand what you said here, but I want to make sure: When your busy firing away at something/someone and you have a ally highlighted and want to heal them, shouldnt the rifle be a better choice over pistol since there IS a delay between shots to heal them?
No, pistol is definitely better. The point is that you can't do any healing in that 6 seconds you are waiting between rifle shots. It goes in the combat queue just like another rifle shot would. For pistol shots, with a good pistol and some pistoleer skills, I have a 1 second delay between shots. That 5 seconds can make a lot of difference. And no, the clear queue command doesn't make the heal come through any faster.
Also more importantly, I dont at all understand what you meant by when you become Novice CM you are "gimped" until Master, how is this? Do you actually lose the skills you attained by Mastering the medic trees? Will I actually have less experiemental points to work with, etc? What exactly do you mean by this?
No, CM skills just are completely separate from medic/doctor skills. They have 'Combat Medicine Use', 'Combat Medicine Experimentation', 'Combat Medicine Treatment Speed', etc. So you can still use non-CM items with master medic skill, but you'll need CM skills to be able to effectively use CM items.
Elonora, Im confused here....

Also, on a side note, I plan on going Master CM, but along the way I would like to use the Revive command attained from the Master Wound treatment 4 tree. I am almost there, but my question is this....is that all I need to be able to USE the revive kits? I know I would not be able to make them without Doc crafting 4 or whatever but what about to USE them, this is something I really need to know before I blow my med xp on this last mark on that tree...thanks ahead of time.
