Thread: Thoughts on /drag?
Hello,
Was out with a group last night. Got a chance to use /drag some. Here's my thoughts on it. I welcome any thoughts others have on /drag.
It's fun watching corpses drag over the ground, and can be modestly usefull to help a Doc avoid agro during PvE. However, the limited range of /drag, while realistic, means that in most cases I have to be close enough to the fighting that I still run a significant risk of drawing agro. Without any sort of sneak ability for a Doc, they almost might as well run up to their patient. Can be usefull if you have two or three group members whom you are about equally spaced from, but if you were to run to all of them would add a lot of extra time to your treating of them.
PvP usefullness of /drag: NONE. At least as far as I can tell. Again, you will have to be so close to the body to /drag it that generally you will get the snot beat out of you before the body reaches you. Add to that the fact that the drag animation advertises that a medic is nearby, and the drag goes in a straight line to you, that everyone will know exactly where you are.
So, basically, the /drag ability, while kinda humorous to watch, and slightly usefull in PvE, doesn't seem that helpfull to me as a Doc.
The main advantage of drag for me is it keeps an agro critter from whacking him as soon as I rez him. Its also convenient for stacking corpses and incaps in a nearby scout camp, while I patch them up. Its not an uber skill, but its one of the funner ones for medics.
And yes, its great for getting incapped/dead players out from under the feet of an agro lair area.
First, I thought drag was a medic skill, not doctor skill (although, I could be wrong).
Secondly, I found drag to be very useful in three instances:
1. borked terrain where you keep being told you're too far away from the player to heal, even though you're standing on top of them,
2. saving your buddies from death blows, and
3. pulling incaped person from the range of an irritated mob that would attack them or you if you were to heal too close.
I believe 2 is the most useful of them all. I've saved many people from death blows by snatching them quickly out of harm's way.

Well, yeah it is amedic skill. But that doesn't mean it's not potentially usefull for Docs. In fact, I should think it would, usually, be more usefull for Docs than for Combat Medics, since we don't get any ranged stims or heals. I'm just trying to get my head around the tactical uses of /drag. As far as number 2) I'm a Doc who can revive players. What do I care if they get deathblown or not? Granted, I don't wait for them to get DB'ed - I try to drag them while they are still incapped. My problem is chiefly that I still seem to draw a lot of agro even sitting back from my group and dragging their incapped bodies to me for a heal.
And, like I said, I can't figure out any tactical uses for /drag in PvP.
Drag in PvP is very powerful esp with all the mind dots and mind dmage flying around...drag them away from the enemy keep from being DBed...
A couple of suggestions for the /drag command:
- I wish the effective range increased in conjunction with one of the skill boxes. Gaining three meters as you moved up the First Aid tree would be nice
- I could also see Combat Medics gaining a increase in range as they leveled up
- GiveMaster Medics acarry (/carry?)command. This would force you into /peace mode and reduce your movement speed but allow you to drag a character continuously until you issued a drop (/drop?)
Ididn't think/drag worked on corpses. I need to try that.
Drag is good, i use it all the time in PvE combat. Also, its fun to make a body pile before starting the resurrectionsif the coast is clear and you managed to survive a massacre. :-D
It can be confusing with the height requirements associated with it. I've beenwell within range to pull an incapped melee guy away from the front lines, but because of height differences i couldnt drag him.
