Thread: Crafting XP question, and possible petition.

At one time we used to get partial xp from factory runs, but this is no longer true....correct?

Reason is thatthe amount of grinding i'd need to do to convert to force-sensitive xp seems out of balance at the rate which a master combat profession could get their xp. I do realize that the grind could be accomplished in the traditional crafting grind method, but I'm one of those that tries to mesh a grind with something benefitial to me and/or the community. I'd like to believe that part of the jedi revamp was to end the grind style of play that supposedly was ruining the ingame economies.

For instance, i have an alt that's a MPike/MCH. I can do weapons, combat, scouting, and CH xp while i'm gathering creature resources. The gathering resources portion is something that my doc alt or others can benefit from with the resources i harvest.

Seeing that how the bulk of useful crafting uses factory made components, i would think that at least a partial xp benefit would be in order. Someone actually trying to do something to support the community shouldnt be penalized for utilizing an ingame function to do it.

Since I have a doc that's a MDoc, i figure i'd start here and see how the rest of you feel about getting xp from factory runs and starting a possible petition to reinstate it. Again, it wouldnt be the full xp, rather a portion of it.

Sure. Merchants get free XP just for having empty or one 9999999 credit item vendors sitting in their houses, why can't crafters get xp for actually using factories to craft stuff?

because anyone can use a factory if they have schematic. The merchant at least had to give up some points to become a merchant. This would be free XP for everyone. You can get afk XP in this game but it has to cost you some skill points to get them.

and everyone that beleives this new 'quest system' isn't a grind hasn't been to the village. This is a bigger grind then the old methode. The only difference is that you can stay one prof for this grind. You can theoretically carry on with your normal day and get all the XP required to become a jedi.....You'd probably have to play for 7 years to unlock if that were your approach. Unless your day consists of killing high XP things all day every day then you will have to change your gameplay if you wish to unlock.

Dont stop there, if your a Master Doc you can only hold 80k exp max once your a Master. Thats like buffing 15 people or so and if you trying to get FS healing skills added then you are probably going to be the last class able to complete it. I can hold 900k of unarmed xp but only 80k medical xp...there is a huge problem there, maybe someone left a 0 off and it went from 800 to 80?

In the beginning anyone with a schematic could recieve full benefit from a factory run as if they crafted it but only if you remained within a specific range of the factory. This was reduced couple weeks after launch to 10% of the original crafting XP. It was complete removed a short time later.

Asking for crafting XP from factories is not a new idea, but a return to how the game once was.

Being able to craft something takes skill points in some form or another.I forget if the person who creates the schematic was the one who gets the xp, and not the one who uses it.

I do believe this new system is a grind, nor am i complaining about it. The grind being worse or better than before depends really on your profession. My normal day to day approach can get me capped on fs xp within the time between the phases without a problem doing combat withmy alt. Killing high XP things can get you capped in a day if you know how.

There is little incentive for crafters or anyone who wants the fs crafting skills not to go away from the traditional grind method and do anything constructive on their grind.

Yeah, i know this isnt an original idea. I just remembered about the factory xp from a long time ago. Am i trying to make the grind easier for myself and others? Well, yes and no. It is probably easier and faster to do it the "traditional" method. I'm just looking at a way to keep crafters in the community interaction loop and want to get a feel if others feel this is worth pursuing.

We'd really need to weigh the risks, as SOE may choose other alternatives to balance the system, like making the conversion for combat and weapons xp worse (which i wouldnt like as i think it's fine enough where that one is). As a friend of mine says, "As bad as some things may be, if you call attention to yourself or others, SOE can make things worse."

Yeah, that's another good idea. I forgot about that one. That statement about SOE i made got me thinking tho. The cap on xp is based on 2x the requirement of the highest skill box you haveor something like that (using weapons xp as an example...the 4th level box of an elite combat prof requires 450k xp. If you have a skill at that level, your xp cap is 900k xp). Now SOE could set a condition outside the xp cap calculation, but most likely they wont. The other thing they may do is raise the xp requirements (which i wouldnt like the one to be responsible for this happening).

Normally i'm not this negative about things, but SOE really gets me going in that direction at times. Just want to know where ppl stand on these issues and if it's something worth pursuing or feel the topic should be dropped.

d'oh, forgot about that. Still, if you're not an architect, you'd be capped pretty low on architect crafting XP, though I guess you could just camp the village and cash in your XP little by little each time you earn it through your factory.
