Thread: Doc's & Droids
Hi all,
I Know this has been asked a bazillion times , but I cant find the posts.
I finally have scrapped up enough to buy a surgical droid. I have a droid maker who is close to master level who can build one for me (and At a reasonable price) but I really dont understand what the droid needs.
1) A medical Module 6 (I think is preferred)
2) A Quality crafting station
3) maybe some storage space.
My Questions: do you need the medical module if it's a surgical droid. I recall a controversy around that
AmI missing something, or are there other droid considerations I need to think about before i give him the ok to start building.
Any Advice
Thanks,
Doc Pepa
Yeas I know that stethescope looks a lot like a blaster, but trust me......

There's all sorts of good info there. As far as the surgical droid goes - it's bugged. It's supposed to automatically have a medical module in it (hence the name surgical droid), but it doesn't. You have to install one yourself. Therefore, any droid is as good as the next when it comes to healing - just get one with a great medical module in it.
Also I have a surgical droid which is bugged:
(1) The storage module does not work
(2) You can't name this kind of droid
(3) I ordered a personality chip but it doesn't show up anywhere and it acts like an a-hole
(4) The in board crafting station is the only thing that works.
I would recommend getting an R2 unit. These are great in terms of the number of modules you can install! Mine has:
* a 110% medical effectiveness module,
* a level 6 storage module which holds 10 items
* a level 6 data module which hodls 110 schematics
* a level 4 armor module giving it 40% resistence to attacks
* a repair module allowing me to repair other droids
* a Food and Chem crafting station
R2s have a larger HAM than a surgical droid, and they look nicer to boot. All of this cost me a little under 80K. If you ask me, it was the best investment I ever made into any items I own.
80k for a droid.. bah..
I have an R2 that i bought for 17k
level 6 med
level 6 item storage
crafting station
40% armor
then i bought an advanced probot for 20k with
Repair
40% armor
110 data storage
Not to rip you or anything.. but you got a bunk deal IMO... but the bottom line is....
If your happy with what you have, then thats what matters..
Hi, i hope i am able to answer your questions...lets see
I am not positive if a surgical has a built in medical module, but I do know that any droid with a medical module chip lvl 6 will give you a medical rating of 110 (maybe 105 not positive - i know its over 100 for sure)
The three things you have listed are more than adequate for what a droid is used for.
I personally prefer the R3 droids, but if you wanted to cut out the storage or crafting station, you could actually get a mouse droid which would be a lot cheaper. Its all about your personal preference and how much you want to spend.
If you have the money you should buy whatever droid you like the most and get the modules installed. Almost all of the droids have the same functions, aside from probots and seeker droids. What i guess im saying is the mods make the droid, the droid itself is just for looks. Have fun!
Hope this helps.
Nope, a lvl 6 medical modules is 110 effectivness.. but if you stack 2 lvl 4s you can get an effectivness of 110, experimenting does absolutly nothing when making droids.. one of the reasons i got bored with them. No sense of acomplishment.
The 2B1B thats an a-hole sounds like the sarcastic personality chip.
You can not rename droids that talk, nor can you put item storage mods in them. (Never tried data modules but they are mosty worthless anyways so i never sold any)
Surgical droids do not heal on there own.. its just the shape.. you must have medical modules installed.
At most you need is to find a master DE and get an R2 unit with chem crafting, med lvl 6 and item lvl 6.. but R4's are cheaper to make and can have the same things
Man you guys rock!
Thanks for all the advice. I feel informed now and can tell my friendly neighborhood droid maker what I want & need.
Beers to you all,
Doc Pepa,
"Hey Doc that needle looks a lot like a blaster tip"....."Yeah this is gonna hurt....A Lot"
I bought a R5 unit and i cannot figure out how to use the thing for crafting our healing. The droid engineer told me it would do both. Did he sell me the wrong droid or am I just not using him correctly?? This is driving me nuts.
Thanks
