Thread: Does it really matter what meat type needs to be used?

I'm not a medic, but my wife is a Combat Medic. It seems everyone is always wanting herbivore meat of good quality. But does it really matter if there are other meat types, say like carnivore, that are of better quality?

I'm asking because I've stumpled upon the best meat I've ever seen, and it's carnivore meat. All of it's stats are above 900.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The reason everyone is so hyped up over herbivore meat is because it is used to make advanced chemical release duration mechanisms. You need 16 units of herbivore meat to make one. You can then use that advanced component in just about any medical device (all the stims and woundpacks need them and I think all of the enhancement packs do as well). Using an advanced component rather than a basic one can add a great deal of punch to the final product.

The carnivore meat can't be used to make Adv. CRDM's, but it can be used other places. For example, when crafting a Stim B, you'll need 1 BEC, 1 LS, 1 CRDM, 12 units of organic, and 12 units of inorganic. You can certainly plug that meat into the organic slot.

I hope that helps.

It matters because Herbivoer meat is sepcifically used in an Advanced medical component. While Carnavore meat could be used to make the regular version of that component, even the best Carni meat would only produce that kind of component about as well as the worst herbivore meat well.

That being said there are still many meds that can use any generic Organic material, so anything with a 900+OQ and 900+PE in particular are certainly welcome additions to any med-types resource bag.

Of particular note in the way of meats for med-types would be, as noted, Herbivore meat for Adv. CRDMS, Avian Meat for msot Enhance Packs and Insect Meat for CM Diseases. (Not a huge demand for this, mind you, since I don't think many CMs actually make or use a lot of diseases since they are really only useful in some very sepecific PvP situations).

If your wife plans on making her product with advanced components, they require specific ingredients or they can't be made. If the componet calls for herbivore meat, then that's what she has to use.

On the other hand, I'm sure there are medics out there who would pay well for meat with stats over 900 (myself being one of them) for the basic med products such as stims. That will allow the aspiring medic to make a better product until they can make the advanced components.

I think Combat Medic supplies are certainly a pain to make. If I remember correctly, she does need herbivore meat (schematics are specific on that). Certainly collect as much of that meat as you can though. Many, many people in the medical community will become your best friend for that meat!

The general rule of thumb for a medic:

Top priority in anything is OQ, this effects everything

Then Potential Energy; this effects the power per use

Then Unit toughness; This effects maximum uses

On any given component or item, the break down is:

Potential power per use:
OQ: 66%
PE: 33%

Maximum uses:
OQ: 66%
PE: 33%

In regards to the sudden and huge need for herbivore meat. This is related to the fact that formerly Petro 4 was unavailable in the universe, well it just became very available. Petro 4 and Herbivore meat are both needed to create one of the common advanced components that are in a lot of medicines. I am likewise in dire need of herbivore meat (and yes it must be herbivore meat) though other meat is still needed, herbivore is specifically needed.

Hope this all made sense and it wasnt too much info.

I am a ranger on shadowfire server and would be glad to do some hunting for any aspiring medics. I dont know of any other method of getting my name out there at this time and have offered the same services to other professions. So I hope you will forgive the Intrusion. I wish they had a terminal we could advertise on...that would be awesome.

So if you need someone to gather resources for stims and whatnot, message me in game (same name). Thanks folks.
