Thread: Why bother with adv components/ I must be doing something wrong
I've been making, and selling, some really nice medical supplies on the Tarquinas server. I finally broke down & collected all of the really nice ingrdients to make all of the advanced components. "All" of my ingredients had high OQ, PE, & MALL. I made a few prototypes and they were worse than my normal meds. DidI do something wrong?
FYI- I was using a food & chem crafter which was 40+.

Hmm. Any more specifics on this? What items where you making, and with which adv comps?
Sometimes it makes no diff with an adv comp. For example, poison, disease, or res packs can use regular LS's. ABECs should up the charges, tho.
You obviously did something dumb. 
Check and double-check everything. Even the worst advanced component is better than the best non-advanced component.
e.g. Did you just put the advanced ingredients into the regular "Liquid Suspension" schematic instead of the "Advanced Liquid Suspension" schematic? You need to use the schematics for the advanced components, which are gained near the top of the crafting line in Medic.
I still have no idea why people use adv components.. Just make more stims with normal components and you'll do fine. If you're wanting to sell stuff.. just make normal stims and sell them cheaper than ones with adv components.. you don't need adv components for selling stims.
People use adv components because they want to make the best stims they can. When in a duel with someone, would you rather have a stim b with base heal 250, or with base heal 400?
Phomeister, what do you mean you don't understand why people use adv components? SureI don't HAVE to use them to sell stims. But if I do they will twice as good as yours which don't use adv components. I can harvest the resources for the same amount of money, same maintenance, same power requirements on harvesters. I just have to planet hop a little more, but load up a harvester with a weeks worth of maintenance and problem solved. So for the same cost, I can sell my stims for twice as much... Sounds like a good deal to me.
