Ok im quite sure this has been brought up many times ....but not by me...so here it goes...

Why is it that docs/medics have to rely on tips to for healing?...well and entertainers for that matter also.

If smugglers had to rely on tips to make a living or say artisians there would be a bigger stink made about this. I think a better idea would be for example....a person enters a med center with X amount of wounds......

the systym determines how much they pay for entrance and the money is split between all who healed...i know its not really the best idea in the world but something has gotta be done....i wish i could walk into a hospital and decide to tip or not to tip my local doctor lol

I would say about 95% of the people that I heal tip me. Some tip me like 500 credits, and there are a few repeat customers that consistently tip me up to 5k. Those ones make up for the few cheap bastards that don't tip us.

You have much, much better luck than I do. I get tipped about 1 in 10 times for healing peoples wounds on Bria. In fact, I get tipped so infrequently that I am seriously considering not healing anyone once I reach master doctor (other than when in a group running missions). People tend to think that they are providing you with exp, therefore they shouldn't tip you.

TechBoss mentioned that people think they are giving xp so they shouldnt tip.....your so right..but what people fail to realize is if you go to a smuggler and get weapon sliced..your giving xp....you go to a mechant and buy something....your giving xp....but they still get paid..and paid well..if we as Docs/Medics would band together and get heal money up front it would make a world of difference

Well, it all starts with you. If you continue to heal for free and expect tips, things will never change. I've got millions of credits in the bank now and I still don't heal for free. It's not because I need the money or even that I'm greedy - I do it for you. I charge for healing because, if I don't, the people I heal will walk up to the next doc and expect to be healed for free. That next doc might not have millions of credits stashed away.

So, like I said, this all starts with you. Don't rely on the customer to be nice and tip you. Charge up front. If the customer won't pay it, the customer doesn't get healed. It's just that simple. This will continue to be a problem until we, as doctors, take responsibility for our actions.

This coming from you means nothing sense you waste all your stims on a pet monkey. AND Pay him for it. Yeah your smart. Keep thinking and you might hurt yourself.

Also about the slicers...Well i only use master slicers because i want the best chance at a good slice as high as possable. And as you all know a master does not need exp. Ontop of that slicers are required to buy parts from other classes to slice with 10)% success. So...it costs them actual money where as a doc can make their stims with a few resorces they can get them selves much cheeper than a slicer getting clamps.

Im not defending healing for free, just playing devls advicot. I personaly dont heal people now that im a master its not worth my high quality meds. Unless they ask and there are no other medics around. If i see other medics i let them deal with it as i know they want the exp. And unless im selling buffs i never have a medical title on.

If you want exp you will level realy slow asking for payment...there will alwase be others healing for free. My advice is to make crappy wound packs with leftover garbage resorces wile your leveling so as not to waste good stuff on non payiing coustomers. And unless they tip you or other medics are there I dident use meds on less than 40 damage or so...use tend wound the one that kills your mind. Sence its free for them they can wate for it to fill back up.

But the best way for a medic to level and get payed....Hang out by the mission terminals and ask people if they want a medic or doc to escort them on some missions. Tell them with you they can get higher level missions and do them faster with less down time. You will get payed wen the mission is done. Its also more fun and interesting than just sitting in med centers. Idealy you want about 3 other combatants in the group if you want to focus on just healing...Mele people and carbineers are best. Its also a great way to make new friends. If you can bring a droid with you for more efficiant stims. You dont have to worry about the droid getting killed to much as sence your not attacking and hanging back a bit most likely the mobs will have more important people to agro. If you want money you cant easly expect to get it just sitting in a med center. I dont like it any more than you but its the way it is...as long as new medics/docs want exp healing in med centers will alwase be free unless its a odd hour.

Before i was a medic i alwase tipped though.

I find that people won't tip you unless you buff em because they see it as you getting medical exp so why should they tip you. (which is stupid cause you need tip to get medical supplies)

I have a specific fee structure I go by and let people know up front, if they do not choose to pay then I don't heal, though I am not mean about it. I understand if someone doesn't want to pay. I charge 1cr/wound for wounds, I charge 1K per stat on buffs, and 1K for local rezzes (scaled up for distance traveled).

Oh and I heal Poison, Disease, and damage for free, though I get tipped for them sometimes as well.
