Thread: Agent? What do the DEVS know?

Agent can you make a thread telling us the issues the devs currently are at least AWARE of?

For instance, do they know that I have to tell all my buff patents?...

"Please step outside of the medical centerso I can buff you more effectively"

It would help if we at least had a handle on what the devs know.

Thats a difficult questions for me to answer, and most likely any direct answerI get from a Dev would not satisfy you. I will try and get TH to come post something for you though.

In the meantime, you need to understand that we are only 1 of 34 porffessions, and that a number of those proffessions have more immediate and fundamental concerns, and thus get put first on the list for fixes. The devs also have a rather tightly packed development schedule, with Jedi revamp, combat rveamp, GCW revamp and such. Also, the devs take priority for fixing our issues based on our top 5. The most recent top 5 report is here: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=doctor&message.id=43374. These are the top 5 issues your fellow doctors have voted on as the most important issues, and the ones they want addressed first. If there is an issue you think is more important than those top 5, I would suggest the next round of voting you try and make your case to persuade more of your fellow Doctors to vote for the issues you believe are more important.

Im not trying to make excuses for the devs, or stop you from asking such questions, I just want to put up that point of view for you to think about. Whether you agree with it or not is your choice and I will hold nothing against you for disagreeing (multiple view points and opinions are a good thing). Like I said above, I will try and get TH or another Dev to give you a response.

There is also another key issue relating to Doctors that was not on the Top 5, that TH has mentioned they are working on. I dont know if I say more without checking with TH first (I'll try and get him to talk about it here himself).

A lot of things are more complicated than people think, and its not always as easy as flippinga switch to fix. Even the simplest bug may take days just to identify where in the code the problem is, and how best to fix it.

I'm sure there are a few "hey, you forgot to turn on (something)" that they would fix with a hot fix, but they need to be informed.

They generally dont like hot fixes, because of the uncertainty of how it will affect the servers. Thats why they have a Test Center to try things on before going live (though TC doesnt always catch all problems). Hot Fixes are generally reserved for when they do break something major with a publish, they can throw in a quick fix.

US knowing what they know, could save us time reporting knownbugs.

OR let us know if something WE think is broken, is in fact, "working as intended"...

This way we are more educated when we come here and scream something is broken.

TH and the other Devs only have so much time in the day to post and communicate with us, there is no way they could cover everything. Also they often changing their minds and design schemes, so telling us one thing at time A might not be what ends up happening at time B. Even as it is, TH seems to put in a lot of overtime (He notified me that Imade Corespondant on a Saturday Morning).

I assume the Top 5 gets submitted? Therefore they know about that stuff?...

Yes, the last top 5 was submitted yesterday

Thanks Agent!

I would only add this to the mix. The issues lists for the medical professions are, obviously, pretty visible right here on these forums. They have also been sent to the Devs on the Correspondent forum before, in a few different ways. So the list is there and readily available to the Devs. Now whether they have actually sat dowan and really read those issues lists is something I don't think any of us could answer, but at least it's available to them. Obviously TH would be the better person to ask for anything more specific on ho he gets issues out to the Devs and how what we might consider "low hanging fruit" gets handled on their end.
