Thread: Exp for being in combat...but wounds?
IMHO

I think that Doctors should get xp for healing wounds because its almost like something completely different from healing. Its treating. And Doctors dont really have anythign to do with combat directly...so why do they have to heal in combat anyway to get xp? Thats fine...i just think that Doctors should at least get half the xp for healing wounds. But i guess no matter what; people who wanna be doctors will be doctors.
IMHO
Thanks
my thoughts are the reason we dont get xp for wound healing is they wanted to do awaywith "tumblers". You could grind out the xp by finding a nice spawn of radioactives and having an artisan sample it as you stood there healing his wounds, or have a bunch of people eject from their yachts over and over and land blackbarred...

Well, if it was say it 1/2 xp for each wound point healed. A totally black barred level 80 combat toon wold only give you 1500 XP. And the amount of time required to heal that much wound damage would discurage tumblers. After all 1500 XP medical can be obtained in seconds in combat. So I think it is it is possible to give some type of XP. for wound healing while discouraging abuse.

But at that low level, why bother? I would like to see something for healing wounds, too, since that's one of the differentiating abilities for the Doctor profession, but if you go that low, then you may as well keep it at zero.
Although I should note that, even without the XP, I heal every wound I see (assuming the "patient" is able to be healed and not, say, Imperial SF) just for roleplay reasons. Similarly, though, I'll only buff players of my faction.

You both have very valid points. I'm just saying that you could get a friend to afk sampling radioactives and then fire off a healwounds macro with a 30 second delay and afk the whole process. Now that battle fatugue has been removed the penalties for HIgh bf wouldnt be a factor. This same tactic was often used to level dancers and musicians.
You used to get xp from healing wounds, which made it worth while, but now, you're lucky if you even get a tip for spending 20mins with some idiot whose got 1k wounds! So since some time ago, I don't heal other people wounds, it's a waste of my time, I don't even get a tahnk you nowadays! If it's me or my friends then I'll happily do it, but others, It's jsut not appreciated, so let's jsut see how they do without it, huh?

I agree there are people out there that don't tip. But im my travels I'll heal wounds now and then and a lot of times i get surprisingly large tips. I received a 20K tip for healing 200ish wounds the other day, the largest tip I got was 100K from a Jedi that had about 800 wounds from flying...

Back in the day you could get a mate to apply a disease to your AT-ST and heal it up for your Doc xp
And in all honesty, it might not be the worse thing to happen, given that xp is only going to be dished out for grouping up and getting out there - I wonder if there is still a place for wounds in the game.

There was talk awhile ago of having a "wound-healing minigame" that couldn't be AFK-macroed.
Sure, I played it when I was a kid (and again last week with my 7- and 9-year-old nieces): it's called "Operation".
Heh..
