Thread: doc buff duration and what it will (or won't) accomplish

Yeh, I know there's several threads concerning this. But I wanted to say something and I wanted my own thread to say it in.


Profession: Doctor
• Adjusted Doctor buff durations to improve the usefulness of Doctors in groups.


If the rumors are true, and they actually REDUCE the duration of doc buffs to do the above, all it will do, is make tons of doctors drop their doc tags. What I mean is, they'll not get groups as doctors, but as their other combat profession. Why spend 10 minutes buffing your group only to have to do it again in another 15 minutes. That's absolute rubbish. At first, I told myself that if they actually DO this I would just drop doc and use my token to respec something else....but on second thought all it will make me do, is throw up my Master Rifleman tag instead of doc, and only use my doc buffs on MYSELF. Call me whatever you will, selfish, whatever, but buffing a full group every 15 minutes (25min duration minus the 10 minutes required to buff entire group) is not fun and I won't do it.


Anyway, that's what I predict those of us that keep the proff will do.

heh, I was expecting them to increase the time, but then again, people might actually play this profession as a group role if it were true.

Lowering the timers on buffs would seriously drive doctors completely away, IMHO. I mean, I hate buffing with my doctor over and over as it is... I think the buff duration should be much longer, not shorter. Or, AT LEAST give Doctors group buffs.

when i read the patch notes to say they were adjusting doc buff timers to make them usefull in groups I thought they meant increasing the timers cause thats what I wanted as a doc cause it sucked keeping a 8 man group buffed all the time as it was now it will just be annoying a lot more

Well my buffs are just over 40 mins (Master Doc) for all but the Adren which is still the same it was before. I honestly can't remember if it was 45 mins before or not. I don't see any major differences. As it is I go with the group and buff as needed. Most of the time it was just the Adv Nutrients and the Adren. Anything else was a waste on most characters. I almost never used the mind buff on anyone but myself.


With at most a 5min change in duration to the advanced I see no real changes... unless they really screwed the dabblers. I'll be buffing at about the same time. And I already buff on the run... since CU it's not viable to try and buffbot... so it's not getting me out in the group.


Actually... lowering the time to force people out in the wild is assine anyway. You get very little benefit and no xp for the action (not that you should get xp for it). The didn't lower them enough to really effect much.


Pretty much all just a waste of coding and time.

Nothing what so ever has changed about my buff durations, nor are the cooldown timers any faster, so I really dont have any idea what the change to buffs were.

It's already been established they did not get changed in pub 21 as they said they would. but the rumor is they're durations are being decreased sometime in the near future.

I never quite understood why the cooldown timers on the buffs are so long, as they have no benifit in being re-applied. It doesn't make any sense, only slows down the buffing process, where you have to go through each buff, and whoever gets the AB first looses about 2 mins off it by the time you've finished the last.


I actually played my doc as a pure healing role last night, capped 1.2m xp pretty quick (not that it's any use to me). Have to say it was pretty boring.


I'm probably going to use my token respec to change away from doc as it doesn't really have any benefit any more, as i used to use him to buff alts etc, but in all honesty the buffs that we have now are not far from worthless (AB is the only one that used to make a difference, but since the nerf, it's made having a Doc worthless to me)
