I've taken the past weekend to try to sit back and just read what is going onin all of the communities. There are a lot of good posts, angery posts, negitive posts, nerf post, etc. But what it all boils down to is avalible information.

We as Doctors can get upset because we feel the "Ultra Nerf Bat" coming down on our heads, because we don't fully understand why or what is going on. I was very upset as I started to read the CU Information, heck I'm still a little frustrated at what is to come. However I reconginize that not all information is avalible to us yet.

I mean we don't know how....

  • our crafting tree is going to be put into BE or what we will be given to make up for it.

  • buffs are going to be affected.

  • SEA's are going to be affected.

  • resource requirments may or may notchange.

  • our current skills will be changed and added to.

  • the new HAM system will work.

I mean we just don't have enough information to start revolting on the forum, and screaming about how there is no point to be a Doctor anymore, or that Crafting is ruined, or any other thread that is on the forum. We simply don't have enough information.

All we know is that *Every* profession is getting changes in some shape or form. We all knew this was going to be the case, but I think a lot of us (including myself) were just shocked by howit seems we are changed inthe 1st release of Information. I mean the Document posted by Blair gave people more questions then answers. It made a lot of people upset. It made a lot of people happy. Heck some people don't even know about the document yet.

All we can do is hold our heads up high, and think about what is going on before we all go off the deep end. Odds are things won't be as bad as some people are out to make it sound. So lets stay on target with the Focus Threads that MasterNerfSlayer and the other Corr's are posting. Understand that not everything has been released to us yet, and therefore some stuff that we are mad about now may be answered at a later date. Lets try to spear head this thing, and make it work. There really is no point to stress over the first document. Lets get more information before we start getting frustrated.

Now with all that being said, I will say this....It's ok to be frustrated with the tiny bit of information we have, and its ok to speak your mind, but lets all try to do it in a more focused manner. Sure some of the changes suck, but lets just see where SOE takes this. Who knows what will happen.

I should clarify also that where my posts are concerned, it revolves around the crafting side of things. As I look at the new posts involving healing, I am actually open to the new role we will have regarding having a more potent healing capability wherein we'll be needed in order to keep players alive. The details will only clarify what seems like, on the surface, a good idea.

The movement of crafting to BE however shows that the facets of doctor will diminish by one. Each player who crafts is forced to either drop SP from another class in order to pick up BE, or drop the crafting side all together and liquidate any supplies they have.

However we do know certain facts even with this post:

  • Buff strength is being dimished to 20% max.

  • Buffs will no longer be a necessity for combat, they will simply be a slight advantage.

Doctors who are currently crafting have a very legitimate concern regarding their business dealings. I am optimistic enough to believe our resources will still be applied to buff packs, so am not worried about their application. My concern likes completely with their value, and I don't believe any knew information will change the fact that said value will greatly diminish.

This is because with buffs being an advantage, the demand for a buff will decrease, thus the value of our commodity will decrease. No further clarifications from the devs will change this simple economic fact.

Thus I see the losses we will take as a necessary evil, (according to the devs), in order to fix a broken system. IMO, there will be NO avoiding this when the change is implemented, (and I don't believe anything can be said by any player to change this).

Well put, I'm hoping if you take over asCorr, you'll find out the answers to these questions.

What I will say though is focus threads are difficult to discuss properly if we don't have all the details. I have asked several times now if we are going to get some sort of compensation, but recieved no answer. That being so, it's hardly suprising to see many of us preparing for the worst. I mean, what can we focus on when all we have to discuss are the negative aspects of our revamp?

I can help but wonder if we really aren't getting anything back, afteralllistening to those who do know what's going on, we probably shouldn't expect much. We've not even been given a reason for the crafting changes, and while I'm trying my damnest to be adult about it, it's hard to be constructive in an information vacuum, especially when the only profession I give a toss about is being stripped of some of its defining skills. I know it's only a game but damn it I've spent an awful long time playing and have a great deal of attachment to my current prof and toon; it's dificult not to be personally annoyed about these changes.

Anyway, I wish you all the best sorting this one out,

Gift.
