LMAOROFL....I buff people i am grouped with and occassionaly get a 20k tip from one person....Doc is not a profession to have if you are looking to make creds IMHO.. I keep Doc for the healing abilities when grouped, but if i am grouped with Jedi, i almost never have to heal a group memeber because the jedi heal much better than a Doc. Am almost of the opinion that Doc and CM should be combined into one profession at this point

i charge nothing cuz it costs nothing so why should it cost them anything? well i do get the occasional rez for 100k? and of course 100k wouldn't be turned away when I aint paying nething to use the ability cept for time. I do get the 10k tip with if i'm not tired i'll return to the person just outa pure generosity....i also buff in cnet and theed late nights for free aswell as run to the parties if someone needs a rez there and won't charge a thing. Just a kind doc, if i wanted to be mean... I'd go CM :-p

I tried charging at MO for a few min just to see if anyone would take. About a min after i started advertising, I got ripped apart by every other doc that was there. So that was it. Never goin to try charging again
But when i went there again, a doc was buffing free, she just said the tips are always appreciated line. She said she was doing good business.

Well if they are guildies you don't charge your own guild members.
There are a couple of important factors involved with delivering a bill to a patient.
Were they terminated and needed to be resurrected?
Did your doctors visit require travel expenses you need to be reimbursed with?
Are they someone that you are friends with?
How many doctors are in your galaxy?
I'm not saying gouge anybody either, what I would do is say I charge X amount based on travel, time etc etc. I mean the way to look at it, is simply this. If i have to jump systems and drive outside of mos eisley to do a resurrection for somebody that just got killed I hope they would tip me nicely because I went out of my way. If they didn't tip me, and was a total cheaparse then I would make a note of it and next time it requires travel I won't make it top priority over paying customers.
If I'm in a hunting party, and we're doing missions, I am being compensated with experience, and usually creds for completing the mission therefore you probably shouldn't ask for any compensation. Just use your common sense for this, and don't let people abuse you because you are a doctor.

Docs can make tip money from buffs, but that's about it. ATK income for just buffing would be negligable, which would require AFK macroing to be online enough to make any income at all. And I can promise you that AFK tipping isn't particularly generous. ( I know I tip 10x as much to an ATK entertainer than I do to an AFK player ).
However, when compared to a hunting group, a Doc isn't going to make anything standing around buffing. A decent Dant group can clear a lair easily every 5-10 minutes for 10K mission payout : that's 1-2K per minute of play time. Buffing the party members may increase the lair-killing speed some, but that's negligable.
I consider Doc to be "a combat profession that can make a little extra money on the side from tips for healing". While that Rifleman draws in good cash hunting, the Doc in his party makes the same cash payout. And, as a plus, the doc may get a /tell asking for a Rez from somebody, and receive a compensatory tip ( Frequently not a lot, but I did get a 600K tip one time from a rather generous former corpse ).
I would imagine some of the crafters ( Armor, BE ) are the cash cows now, but I've never been interested enough in it to check. I'm happy if I make just enough money to cover my expenses and allow me to continue my favorite playstyle.
