After the C.U. destroyed the Dr profession, I took up thecrafting branch of Bio-Engineer so that I wouldstill be ableto craft all the usual medical components and supplies in the same old way that I used to be able to prior to C.U. I thought that I could carry on as a Dr in much the same way as before.
However, it appears that I can Buff people without actually having to make Buffs. That I can heal people without having to carry a supply of heals on me. That I can mend health without being in possession of Stim Packs. No need for Fire Blankets or Res Packs. That I can remove States without manufacturing Stims. In summary, that I don`t need a mountain of resources to craft medical items because I just don`t needmedical itemsanymore. So I can dump Bio-Engineer, because I don`t need to craft, right?
But if Doc`sdon`t need these components to heal anymore, then why do Bio-Engineers have the ability to create them? Is it so that other professionscan use things like Bacta Infusion Enhancers or Bacta Toss Enhancer? Or do Docs really need these afterall and it`s just that I didn`t realise?
Please put me out of my confused misery.

As far as I know Bio Engineers create Enhancers which allow you to heal for more, heal wounds better and buff longer. I think.

The only good reason (IMO) for BE xxx4 is if you want to make and sell Stims, particularly Stim-Ds. Good money to be made there.
The remaining items are in my experience of limited use. The enhances extend duration slightly, and not power, so they're largely useless. It's my understanding the Bacta Jab enhancer actually does a decent job, but I've had no need of it. As a result, I have zero crafting on my Doc and use the skill points for other things.
(In my case, Artisan. But I'm an odd duck.)

The BE-made enhancersoffer some HUGE boosts over our base ability.
See Matta's "Post Publish 19 Healing" stickied post for more info, but you're looking at a significant difference.
But no, you don't need BE. Drop that stuff and buy your meds, spend your points on something fun unless you want to spend a lot of time crafting and sell meds to others.
