In this game, they are basically one and the same. It's sad that a profession I love so much is so credit draining, that nobody could even think of only being a medic/doctor and surviving to any degree in this game. People walk into the med center and get healed and then say thanks and walk out without tipping you most of the time. Random people will tip you 100 credits. Wow, I just paid for 3 uses of a medpack. Every now and then someone gives you a generous tip and you are very thankful. Simply put, you can't survive in this profession to any degree. Someone said, "That is the way it is when you get to master in every profession." I have to heartily disagree here. Master Armorsmiths and Master Weaponsmiths have no trouble at all in this game. I don't see the point of getting Master Doctor as I can't see wasting points in crafting. It becomes a complete waste of time as the lowest level is more than twice the xp required to get Organic Chemistry I. I might just give up doctor eventually so I can get master gunfighter. At least with these skills, I can earn reasonable money on missions. If they don't make it more profitable to be a doctor, or get newbie death back, the medic profession will be non existant in no time at all. This is truly a sad scenario, but one I see as coming true, since devoting time to medic is devoting yourself to a profession where you have to buy all your xp, or at least most of it. Overall, I've lost tens of thousands of credits in this profession. It is simply to expensive to maintain sometimes. How can they call it a profession when you need to do completely different xp types in order to make money. Doctor is not a profession, it's a joke. If this was the way the Doctor profession was in real life, you'd see far too many doctors roaming the streets with those cardboard signs saying, "I will work for food..."

I'm trying to get our guild architect to make me a bunch of heavy floral harvesters.. I'm hoping to go into business selling organics.. Being a doctor is really credit draining. Especailly when you go out hunting with your friends all the time and all I get for healing/ressing their butts isSOMETIMES a 'thx'.

I seem to see a pretty good market for medical supplies as well as advanced components that younger medics/docs can't make themselves... if all goes well I should be making some decent creds doing as such.

Sure, you can TRY to make money on the bazaar... I manage to sell an average of 10 stim Bs' a day, for around 500 (I haven't gotten a nibble at higher prices, unless they're over 250 heal) - that doesn't even hardly pay for my Factory.

A Doctor shouldn't be forced to become a merchant, artisan, scout, or combat classto get by. But this debate has raged a hundred thousand times on these boards, and no consensus on a solution has been reached.

Yes, going for doc is agonizing. I remember early on a lot more ppl tipped for heals then they seem to now. But that was probably because those of us in the med center continuely reminded ppl that healing was our only source of income. I don't see medics saying that anymore. I rarely had more than 2k in my pocket until I reached novice doc. That's around the time tips dried up. So I got some survey skills and harvested resources and sold them on the bazaar. Still, all profit went back into making packs for healing ppl, but at least it kept me moving forward. It took me three weeks longer than expected to reach master doc because of this side job of babysitting harvesters. Then I had to craft 17k xptwice to reach master doc because of a roll back. But I tell you what, the day Master Doctorstarted floating above my head, I had to beat ppl off with a stick. Everyone wants stuff and I can't supply it fast enough. I finally had to take the title off so ppl would leave me alone!. I just receivedone order that will likely be close to 1 million credits. I now have a house and 2 factories and several harvesters. There's no reasonto heal anyone unless I want to now. I've made 100k buffing ppl this past week alone.

Sure it stinks to see the other crafting fields make money off the stuff they craft. When we as medics craftAND heal for nothing in return. Butstick with it, in the end it will be like someone flipped the money switch on.

I've started selling excess Lok Wheat and Tat Fibre and some of the really great Organics and Inorganics i've been mining lately. Made well over 200k for selling 37500 resources.

Yes, it sucks, but the fact is, you can argue about the state of Medics and Doctors in particular all you want. Unless the Devs somehow make it so patients HAVE to pay for healing, then every suggestion we come up with will be trumped by the almighty Human Nature. "Me before You" and "If I don't have to pay, why should I?"

This is exactly the reason why i've begun selling resources. You have to adapt and look outside the bottle for ways to make money.

What really bugs me is that if buying Doctor specific advanced component resources we consistently get charged 10x-20x. This annoys me simply because we buy these stimpack/woundpack ingredients from the players that we heal for free when they stroll into the med center. So they sell the resource getting higher amounts of cash for doctor resources than other artisan class resources (crafter class resources normally are around 3x -4x on my server), just so we can use them to heal their wounds, get no tip, and sometimes not even so much as a "thank you."
