Thread: Best weapon Proffession to go with Doctor??

im going to make a new charater and i was wondering if the was a good weapon proffession that goes with my medical skills. i was thinking rifleman but i wasnt sure, maybe carbineer..... but pistoleers own everyone.....


anyone have good ideas??

Melee classes work wonders when coupled with Doctor.

Personally, I found that being a melee char coupled with a doctor is fun.However, I believe it won't let you be your best. It is a pain if you group with people whom you have to heal throughout the battle. Right now, the combat queue is not the most robust when it comes to healing. Plus, if you draw aggro,which ispretty much guaranteed since not many high level melees in the game, you will be distracted from doing healing if engaged by multiple mobiles.


I found pistol to be the way to go. Low damage increase modifier plus the ability to engage at range is something that is well balanced for PvP and PvE.

Pistoleer by far. Pistoleer plus Master Doctor = parties loving you. Buffs + pistol whip = fun times.

Pistoleer/Doctor/Combat medic is the best way to go. Thats how i got my setup and i can own anyone i fight. You can do anything enhance your stats deal a good amount of damage toss poison disease and heals plus you can cure disease and poison when hit with it. I have pistol stance 4 and special abilities 1, All but crafting in doctor, and all but crafting and speed 2-4 in combat medic.

Mon Cal's have the best overall mind stats for starting medics BTW, not Zabraks. They have high willpower yes, but not overall max stats, can't compare to a Medic Mon Cal.

Pistoleer is probably the "best" choice...it is the most "ubah" I believe but a melee class is also very good and great fun. I know that I'm having a blast as Master Doc / Swordsman...

I'm a TKA/DR and am enjoying that alot. As for healing in a group, no one can compare to the ranged/party abilities of the combat medic. I don't see DR as a very good healer when in combat since the party tends to get spread out. A doc can't effectively run around and heal everyone with how fast some damages occur. The DR does do well buffing the party before a fight, and doing that always desired field-res. Cure disease/poison and remove state (can CM do that?) is really wonderful as well.

So, I find that I use my TKA when the fight is on, and DR before/after the fight, but not so much during. If you want to heal during the fight, that's the CM tree.

All you who say go pistoleer, because the rock right now. But... you they are going to be nerfed. They are walking down nerf road right now. TKs have already been there (700 HAM to do KD with our weapon equiped / 200 HAM to do it barehanded, thisreally sucks, none of you have seen anything like that yet), and many who can't figure out how to play them now have quit, BUT... TKs still are great in everything excepted pvp, we own at pve and in fighting npc (mostly because the majority of npc's switch to melee combat).


Like the abc321 said, as a doctor your really are not effective doing heals during battle. You have to be within 6m, even if you where a range person, your going to have to be running up to the melee fighters to heal them. So you shouldn't think about Doctor for healing in battle. Doctor is for before and after battle.


So I think your best bet is any of the 4 melee classes. By enhancing your stats you will be able to wear full armor in battle, which almost no melee fighters are doing right now. That will really give you an edge.


I'm a TK, but I think a Pikeman would be better, they have the best weapons for damage per minute, plus they are armor piercing 2. Like someone said earlier in the post, there are not many high level melee's in the game, and they are really needed. Most people are not going them, not because range is better in battle, but because they find melee to hard to play, but if you master the art of playing melee, and have a master doctor behind that you are going to be one bad ass player.


Someone said melee fighters are dumb and not smart, but if your a master doctor they can't say that anymore. A master doctor has to be the smartest character in the game, you would think.


I don't think you should follow the crowd and go range like everyone seems to be doing. Take up melee, and become the best.

Well, I got a bit of a different take on all this. I started as a carb using BH/carb specialist. It did not take me long to figure out the most dangerous thing to me was actually fireing my wepon. So I picked up FA 1-4 so I could stim myself in combat. Not long after that I realized i was using more carb moves and less BH moves.So i droped BH and started a grind to Master Medic. Now I am working through doctor and I am having a ball. I can keep shooting away with my carb as long as my mind holds out and against a group there is little better that a carbineer that can actually last more than a round or 3 of special attacks. For example, last night I soloed 9 pickets on Dantooine. (no Pets, No exploits, but they were all standing together. With no other mobs around.) you can use actionshot2 to stop there charge and bleed them, Autoarea2 to do damage. Run back a bit and do it again and heal yourself when necessary. This is ok for soloing and geting about 30k wepon xp in 10 minutes but is rocks in groupswhen you can stop an oncomming army in there tracks. Opps I am rambeling, but sometimes I do that when I am having fun. I can see the meele advantages, but I love my carb. Dont worrie about what the absolute best is just have fun and is you stop having fun doing one thing you can always change.
