Thread: So who here got taken in by a guild?
I ask this cause I see non guild docs and wonder why? To explain this when I was starting out on my doc path I was a hunting doc so to speak. I went on hunts with peeps and did nothing but heal and wound care. They didnt always tip me or give me the meats from the harvests but they generaly did. I never had to pay for my shuttle ticket and I always had more invites than I new what to do with. About this time one group of people from the same guild started taking me everywhere. And I do mean everywhere, there is no planet in game I havent died on at least 5 times... They tool great care of me and paid for med school so to speak. So joining a guild for me was probally me best experence in game. They take care of my needs and I get to heal people who are thankful for my services.
Now on the otherhand I do still like to hang out in the med fac and play doc (go figure
). And when I do I am polite about it I offer buffs and cures but try not to treat wounds unless I am the only medic in the place so I dont still xp from up and coming medics. But when I talk to other docs who are not in guilds they are always short on money and supplies... and it sounds like a lot of times that being a doc is more of chore than fun for them. Is my guild the exception or is there bennifits to being non guilded that I am not aware of? I know from the guilds I have talked with on both sides of the war that most will take docs in there fold much quicker than anything else so I dont think its that the guilds dont want us. So my question like I said earlier why not be non guilded?
Thanks for your responses

Iam in a guild that formed back in Beta. With their help and support I NEVER had to worry about resources. I also feel like I am more than just a cleric...I mean healer, to tag along on missions/hunts because I am able to make stim b's for my guild and pass them out as needed. I can't imagine what it would be like to try and advance in the Doc profession without a guild or at least a group of friends to help me along. I think that if someone is struggling through the profession alone then maybe they should make use of the chat bar more and get to know some of the people around them.

My guild hasn't provided the service. They DIDN'T need too. Me running around on Dath and Lok being a hunting Doc has provided me with all the money I need. I have NO problem getting xp and none of the groups I have been with have given the slightest hint of arguement when I loot the meats. Its not the guild, its the hunting. If the guild is paying your costs and you are getting mission split cash, that's just a double wammy.
I'm not in a guild, and I think I'm fairly wealthy for a doctor (I'm probably worth about 600k right now, in cash and assets). I do have a group of friends that I go hunting with, but that's a recent development...I was already wealthy before that. I don't do any of my own resource harvesting, even during hunts. How did I do it? Tips. I used to get awesome tips, just sitting in the med center and healing people. Once, someone came along and tipped me 270k...because she wanted someone 'worthy' to have it and she was quitting the game.I have also regularly gotten tips in the range of 3-10k. And then, I started buffing for cash when I got to that level...I can make 20k an hour without even trying hardby doing buffs. Now I sell high-quality meds by special order, that's easy money too, because while I am probably paying an average of 7 credits/unit to make the meds, I can sell certain items for 35 credits/unit.
As for why I'm not in a guild...I've been invited to be a member of lots of them. But, I haven't found one yet that really suits me. And I'm not much of an organization person to begin with. It probably goes along with why I don't do harvesting, I want to feel free on this game.
Just my two credits' worth.
I know ppl dont like the EQ vs SWG comparison, but in this case it may be accetable, i played an enchanter in EQ and was picked up by a guild. It did have all sorts of benifits from the "end game" perspective, but when i say wanted to go hang out with a buddie of mine that wasnt in the guild (or any guild for that matter), that would sometimes be at the same time when the guild had something planned. So i had to make the choice piss off the guild or a buddy... i ended up makin a new character, a luxury unavailable in SWG unless you play a different server.
I wont be joining a guild anytime soon, if at all, the buddies i mentioned play SWG and they help me provide for my MCM/MD addiction.
