Hello everyone! I've been told that doctors should, at all time, have several supplements with them at all times. I've heard of Brandy (which I have actually used), Muon Gold, Halva (sp), Bivoli (?).
If you could please describe these things for me and whether I should or should not have/get them. If I'm missing anything, please let me know.
Thanks so much for your time

Vesarian Brandy - 30 minute buff to all three mind stats. usually about 300 points from a good one. You stack two at a time.
Bivoli Tempori - Buffs your Wound Treatment modifier therby increasing your buffing ability. usually lasts 20 min or so, and can add up to +25.
Muon Gold - Spice that buffs mind stats for 10 min. 500 points per stat. When the buff wheres off, your mind will penalized for a few minutes with reduced mind stats.
I have never used Havla.

I'd call 300 an okay brandy. Good would be 375 - 430. With good resources a chef should be able to make at least a 375 with 40 minutes duration. I've seen some that's about +410 for 43 minutes.

I will sometimes use Canape which gives +700 for 10m to focus and willpower. I really only use this when im buffing guild mates and others for hunts that I am not going on.

I use the canape too, it can give you an insane regeneration rate when needed.

Bio-engineered Vasarian Brandy normally runs around the +400 range of a mind buff, and usually has a stomach filling of 49, so you can eat two at a time, and it commonly lasts in the 35-40 minute range. Since this came out, I have not used Muon Gold at all. Muon Gold gives +500 to all stats for 10 minutes, but there is a -500 to all stats for (I think) 5 minutes after it wears off...which CAN incapacitate you when it hits. Muon is a nice thing to have in case of dire emergency, and I do still carry it with me, but I haven't had to use it since the new food came out.
Along with brandy, it is good to have some Vagnerian Canapes, which give you a very big boost (+600 range for BE version) to focus/willpower, but for a shorter time (9 minutes or so usually). Canapes usually have a stomach filling of 33, so you can eat three at a time, for a +1800 buff to focus/willpower for 9 minutes. VERY handy to have. Especially if you are fighting and using a lot of specials which have a mind cost. As an example, while fighting as a TKM using my Nym's Knuckler and hitting with unarmedhit3 - if I have an entertainer mind/focus/willpower buff, but no brandy and no canapes - my mind cost per special is about -24, but with a full load of 3 canapes, my mind cost per special is -6. With brandy on top of that, it comes down to -4.
As a human, I have all of my health and action stats set at the minimum of 400, so that I can have my mind/focus/willpower at 1100/800/1100. Since I never fight unbuffed, this is fine. Having my mind stats so high, I never need brandy, canapes or muon unless I'm fighting, and I can normally get by in most fights without any mind buffs or food at all.
Bivoli isn't worth the cost to me. Without it the buffs I buy hit for 2k and with it they hit for 2.2k. A 10% improvement isn't enough for me to spend (200k crate / (25x2 doses)) 4k per dose for it. It might be worth it for you, but as a doc/rifleman, doc/ch or a doc/tkm (and doing doc/swordsman right now) that extra 200 points has never saved my butt. I also use the same buffs on my jedi and the extra 200 points wouldn't matter there either.
Halva I probably wouldn't bother with personally. It increases treatment speed but I have a 15 second wound treatment speed right now and with the lag in some places I have to slow my buff macro down to as much as 25 second pauses already.I can see where if it increased (I haven't tried it or seen it myself yet) damage treatment speed it might be very handy in a toss-up...as long as you keep your mind stoked up that is.
