Thread: Holo Tip Scam Clear-up?
I have absolutely no idea what scam you're talking about here.
A cash tip should show up on your main sceen as a system message 'Bob tips you xxx credits.' It should also say the same thing in your combat/tells window (if you have one), whether or not it shows up in the spatial window depends on how you have the window configured. Mine doesn't, my system messages show up in 3 windows, none of which are my spatial tab.
A bank tip will show up as 'You have new mail' and the mail will be FROM 'bank' and will say something along the lines of 'xxxx credits have been transferred to your account by Bob'
If that's the scam then the Doc on the recieving end is a fool. Plain and simple, unadulterated fool. Sorry, but it's true.
DO NOT group with people you are buffing public, there's no reason to, no advantage to being grouped with the person, don't do it, you're asking for trouble.
If I remember rightly from the 2 days I spent as a Squad Leader (Useless Proff IMO - got halfway through, got bored and dumped the skills) the /groupsys message from the squad leader (assuming his name is Bob Bobson) shows up like so;
Bob Bobson: blah blah blah
And the group message is of a larger font than an official message, so an alert Doc who is paying attention should not get scammed...
Orderly lines and frequent checks of your bank balance - just open your inv for 2 secs while waiting for your 15 sec pause to run out, having your customers not tip you until it's their turn will reduce any emotional discharge to a minimum.
I've had some asshats in my lines, but as of yet only one schmuk has tried to rip me off and he used the "I'll pay you after" line.

Can anyone explain this clearly? I jsut wanna be sure I recognize it if it happens to me. I assume a legit tip with give me a system message PLUS show up in the spatial dialog box. A Halo tip only does a system message type but not in spatial?
