Thread: 12pt Doc?

What is referrd to when there term "12pt Doc" is used? Is this a MD with added experimentation points? Does it cap at 12? Is that a wrong assumption?

Your assumption is right, a doctor can make a crafting suit with a total of +20 medical experimentation points to add an extra 2 points to exp with. (+10 med exp = 1 extra exp point) And yes it caps out at 12 points total as the cap for all bonuses is +25, and since you need +10 points to make an extrapoint it makes no sense getting any more than +20.

yup...i am currently useing a +5 which does nothing but one of my guildies is making me a pair of pants and shirt with a +15 so i will get those extra points

You don't get extra points for a pant/shirt with +15, that's for wound treatment.


You get the extra points by clothing tapes.


For example I have:


+5 apron


+8 SEA


+5 SEA


+2 SEA


That is my plus 20 suit.


My friend bought a +14 med exp belt, its sick, I want it lol.

see having 20 and 25 is differrent


if u stop at 20 u get the blocks yeh


but if u have 25 u get an extra +5 of experimentation


if this makes nosense, try it and see, having +1 makes sometimes a ASDS go from say Power 50 to Power 51, which wont be a whole block in experimental terms but it does squeeze a little extrra out of it .


This said my example is a fictional one, but i have seen that even +1 on a experimental screen is a noticible differnce, so +20 and +25 are gonna have differernces

There is no way to utilize the extra +5... you only utilize it in blocks of 10... that said, if what you say is true, I would have to see some proof to back it up before I believe it... given the game mechanics, it just doesn't work that way... at least in my mind. I can say I'm 95% sure it doesn't, but since I don't know for a hard fact, I won't dispute it's possibility.

buy toggling clothing i can have say +5 points on me, not an extra block but it squeezes a fe more points into the eperiment al total cos ive tried and tested it

That "extra" block you are seeing is the result of varying success during your experimentation based on the # of blocks you experimenton atone time. Great Success increases by 7%, Amazing Success increases by 8%. Check out the stickied threads at the top.

Increasing your experimentation modifier gives you a better chance of success every time you experiment. Obviously, the biggest advantage to be gained from skill tapes is the addition of the 2 extra experiment points. There is an advantage to using tapes that total less than +10 (or having over +20) in that you will have better success with your experimenting. The only way this would translate to higher stats for a product is if you are not able to hit the max value on that line even if you use all your points, or if the item has multiple lines.

Sorry, but you're wrong. Your assembly skill affects your chances of success at assembly, not experimentation. They are 2 different stages. As I said before, it is the experimentation modifier that affects your success rate when experimenting. Assembly is the step right before you experiment (the step where a critical failure means you lost all the ingredients). That is the stage where your assembly modifier helps.
