Thread: Crafting Without Herb Meat?

Making ALS, and ABEC are easy. I just drop a bunch of harvester and I am good to go. The freakin ACRM are what seems to kill everyone. The petro is a pain in itself, and the Herb meat is ALWAYS the hold up. SOOOOO the question is, what results can you get my using ALS, ABEC, and standed (but good quality) CRM.

Will it work very well? For example, I can make a 350 "B" stim. Making it without the advanced CRM will I still get say 300 or so? I am about to try it, so I am asking you all your opinion before I just waste my time.

Currently for my stim B's, I onlu use ALS (average power on them is 122).

Withgood quality (900+PE/OQ) organics and inorganics, I can make 24-26 charge, 330-335 power stim B's.

It's important to understand HOW subcomponents work. (You can check out the FAQ for more, if this isn't enough.)

Basically, a Stmipack B has a "base" number of charges and power. When it is crafted, you then ADD the values of subcomponents to the stimpack. So, if you used a BEC with 20 charges and 10 power, you would add 20 charges to the base and 10 power to the base. Additionally, if you used a CRDM with 50 power, you'd add 50 power to the base of the Stimpack.

As we're adding the power of the subcomponents to the stimpack, it's very easy to determine how powerful a stimpack would be with lesser subcomponents. Just find the difference in the subcomponents and you'll have a good approximation of the difference in the final stimpacks.

So, let's say you're using ACRDM's with 50 power now. That allows you to make a stim with 350 power. Now, let's say you're forced to use CRDM's with 15 power due to lack of herb meat. You would be dropping 35 points of power on your CRDM, which means that your final stimpack would be down about 35 points for a final product of 315. It's just that easy.

By the way, CRDM's only require organic and chemical resources (very broad), so you can usually find excellent resources to make CRDM's with about 18-19 power (I believe they max out around 20).

I've been able to make B's that are around 345/34 without using ACRDMs, and that's just with "good" resources and components (not excellent ones). So if everything else is good enough, you're probably better off not using them, since they're easier to produce, and no added cost of either hunting for the meat (time) or buying it (money).

I save my ACRDMs for enhance packs.

I have made 400 power Stim B's without using ACRDM. Using power 181 ALS.

As with Agent I prefer to keep them for enhancement packs.

I agree, you CAN make 400+ power stim B's without ACRDMs. Much more profitable, in my opinion, since you don't have to pay the 10+ cpu cost of buying herb meat. Current stims are 35 use, 403 heal with 170 power ALSs and 98% efficiency experimentation.

Wait, So you all think that if a resource is in the toilet, IE lokain whild wheat is 89 now. I am better off making normal components instead of advanced?

Mmmmmm could we all try a few and post here to see what is the highest Stim "B" we can make using standard components? I was able to get up to 260 using 800+ in all slots. Easy to make since you only need two resources now =).....Of course it is a far cry from 400...........

Zolac -

Dantooine berry fruit and Talusian water vapor always are available, plus it only takes 6 of each per ALS. I found that they are cost effective enough to be worth using, plus they give a HUGE boost in power vs. using standard liquid suspensions.

I can try making one up with good quality 'standard' resources ans all non-advanced components tonight if you like for comparison's sake.

Even if your advanced resoruces are made with total garbage (i.e. Lokian Wild Wheat with OQ 58), you'll still make a more powerful stimpack than if you had used all standard subcomponents. In general, even the crummiest advaneced subcomponents are better than the best standard subcomponents.

What you need to determine, however, is what is most cost-effective. Often, you pay a premium for Lokian Wild Wheat simply because it's harder to get a hold of than any generic organic, regardless of the quality of the two.

Let me give you a quick example using herbivore meat. Let's say I make two stim B's. In the first, I'll use a standard CRDM while, in the second, I'll use an advanced CRDM. Here's how it might break down:

  • Lokian Wild Wheat: 18 Units @ 4 cpu = 72 Credits

  • Tatooinian Fiberplast: 18 Units @ 3 cpu = 54 Credits

  • Organic:8 Units @3 cpu =24 Credits

  • Chemical:8 Units @3 cpu = 24 Credits

  • Dantooine Berry Fruit: 6 Units @ 4 cpu = 24 Credits

  • Talusian Water Vapor: 6 Units @ 3 cpu = 18 Credits

  • Organic: 12 Units @ 3 cpu = 36 Credits

  • Inorganic: 12 Units @ 3cpu = 36 Credits

  • Total Resource Cost = 288 Credits

  • Stimpack ~ 35/325

  • Sale Price = 900 Credits

  • Profit Margin = 312%

  • Lokian Wild Wheat: 18 Units @ 4 cpu = 72 Credits

  • Tatooinian Fiberplast: 18 Units @ 3 cpu = 54 Credits

  • Herbivore Meat: 16 Units @ 20 cpu = 320 Credits

  • Class 4 Liquid Petro Fuel: 16 Units @ 4 cpu = 64 Credits

  • Dantooine Berry Fruit: 6 Units @ 4 cpu = 24 Credits

  • Talusian Water Vapor: 6 Units @ 3 cpu = 18 Credits

  • Organic: 12 Units @ 3 cpu = 36 Credits

  • Inorganic: 12 Units @ 3cpu = 36 Credits

  • Total Resource Cost = 624 Credits

  • Stimpack~ 35/375

  • Sale Price = 1947

  • Profit Margin = 312%

In order to retain the same profit margin on the Fully Advanced Stim, you'd have to sell that one for almost 2000 credits. Usually, I see such stims selling for much less - around 1200 credits. You're free to do this, but it's more profitable to make the first stim than it is the second.

So, even though using advanced subcomponents will lead to better stims, those stims might not be cost effective to make and sell. That's really up to you, your customer base, and your server's economy.

yeah, what he said. Don't bother to use herb meat in stims if you're selling to the general PvE crowd. I only use it for enhance packs, where I demand the best.
