Hello!

Well, I started a new char, and I think Clerics aka. Docs/Medics are very very cool with their heals and buffs. But I was wondering, in SWG, if the Docs can buff themselves to like 2k ham? Thanks!

Yes. But there are lot of bugs with enhancement packs right now. Wait till they get fixed.

Hehe. Personally I don't let the bugs stop me. Especially if you are going to be hunting in a particular area. I haven't run into the loacked HAM vars issue in a while. Or if my groupmates are having the issue they aren't saying anything. I think they jsut trust me to be the ones to watch their HAMs anyway and don't really care too much what they look like, other than to watch that Mind Bar.

If you can stay within a zonal boudry I don't have a problem with losing buffs. Even logouts don't lose them for me. I tried that tiwce yesterday. I even had one guy who asked me to buff them in the city (Dearic on Talus) and I told him it would probably drop. He got out to his mission points all of 2300m away from the city and still hadn't lost the buffs.

Now I do get the problem on my own HAMs where if I buff myself the bars don't rescale themselves, so the hit the edge of my HAM box and then start to extend out from there where I can't see them. But even that is not a problem. I figure I hare MORE than enough time to react by the time I actually see some white creeping into my Health or Action bars by then. So I just don't worry about it keep buffing away anyway. The ebenifits outweigh the inconveniences, IMHO.

Now that's not to say that these things shouldn't be fixed, mind you, only that I think they shouldn't stop us from buffing when we get to final destinations and such and keep aware of the what we are gettign into.

Oh, and I buff the pets too.

I actually tried last night. Nope. It's not that you can't /setperform yourself, or /stoplisten yourself...it's that there's no way to actually /listen first! Dammit, a Doctor can buff their own Health/Action stats, right?

I've asked the devs to implement this, and they haven't ruled it out (or in) yet. I'll keep you posted.

ruled it out or in? OMG, this isn't a uber thing to do.. Are they worried that thousand of musician's will become riflemen using their FREE mind buffs to become the next flavor of the month hybrid combat class? There is NO logical reason whey us musician can't buff ourselves.. Every other buff in the game can be self administered.. Smugglers can consume their own spice, Doctors inject their own buff stim, Chef eat their own food... Why can't we have this?

I for one want to know why devs have NOT touched this subject..Obviously they feel there must be some measure of "cons' to allowingmusician/dancers to self buff themself.. I would like to hear them..

I have stated this before. The devs are going to concentrate on the largest group of people. We are the smallest. Our profession will only see improvements when it is convenient to the devs schedule with PVP. Right now though, the game has so many bugs in it, we will not see any fixes, improvements, or new content for another year! This is how I truly see things.

Cronus, my impression is that the devs aren't opposed in principle to a self-buff; they seem receptive to the idea. The Dancer Correspondent and I have asked them about it several times, and they've never said they don't like the idea. Instead, they've implied that the problem is more technical. Our buff is triggered by /stoplisten, and we can't /listen or /stoplisten to ourselves. We heal our own battle fatigue without /listening to ourselves. If our buff is to work on ourselves, it'll have to be triggered a different way, or so I gather. Apparently that's not as simple as coding a Doctor self-buff.

I'll ask the Dancer Correspondent if he's heard anything more than I have about this.

Actually Jedi.. this code is very easy to do.. Let me explain..

We heal ourself without /listen or /watch.. this healing is automatic.. So technically we are allready in a default /listen & /watch mode.. Since we are already in this mode, the devs can simply make it that everytime we do a /setperform we not only buff the person listening, just like we do now with buffing and healing, but we have that effect default to us as well.. Yes. this means that dancers and musician will basically walk around with doubled buffs 24/7 while playing or dancing..

I see NO problem with having master musicians default to buff just like us healing ourselves.. A master musician walking around the Theed cantina with 900 focus and willpower all the time is not a game balancing issue.. So basically.. do the same default coding they do now with healing, and self buff will be possible and easy

I really wish I could buff myself

As of now, I'm a Smuggler/Commando/Musician, who's dumping commando shortly to continue music. I'll miss my flamethrower dearly but since day 1 of this game I've been an entertainer at heart. I've made a crapload of money through missions and sales, and now everything's easy (I love dabbling! w00t). I have a good gun (several), so I really won't need a flamethrower anymore to keep my ass alive. I have alot of friends in Tusken's Bane, and we hunt a lot (both creatures and rebels ). We have a doctor to buff us (though our server has no more main buff pack producer ), but we end up relying on Muon Gold and temporary foods most of the time. Then they always wear off at the worst time and we're screwed to hell. Most folks have a big mind pool but there's nothing like having it buffed. Our doctor/CM ends up having to /mindheal us, and then gets wounds, which I have to heal later .

The point is we all end up getting screwed over mentally.

So please make it so i can buff myself

I really like the idea of self-buff all the time. That puts in the possibility of Master Doctor + Master Musician Then they'd be like a monk!

Cronus, I obviously haven't seen the code, but my understanding is that it's /stoplisten that is thecrucial trigger -- and, as things stand, we can never /stoplisten to ourselves. For a self-buff, the devs will have to find a different trigger. I agree, that doesn't sound like a superhuman technical challenge, but it apparently is not nearly as simple as the self-buff for a Doctor.
