Thread: With all the resource shortages maybe its time to fall back on enhance C or account cancellation

I don't think it's a serious problem, in fact I like it. Good spawns are rare and people who have been around and have collected or bought the good stuff up when they could are producing great sets of buffs with them. They set the standard because they produce the top quality buffpacks and those that either didn't have the opportunity or didn't take the opportunity to stock up are left unable to compete because they can't find the resources to produce those quality buffpacks. Simply put, eventually either people are going to hit the good spawns again and be able to raise the bar on their own packs or the bar, in general, will have to be lowered because they're simply not available.

So, in other words, "crappy" resources that will "only" give you buffpacks that hit for 1900 are only "crappy" if there's people around who have stocked up on stuff that can make packs that hit for 2400. Either new stuff spawns that makes it possible for others to stock up and hit those levels or the people relying on their stockpiles run out and 1900 becomes "good" because there's nobody left who can produce the 2400 packs.

Welcome to the wonderful world of crafting in Star Wars Galaxies. Please take of your shoes at the door.

On intrepid good avian meat, herb meat and good dantooine berries is harder to find than getting a personal audience with the head of SOE because they simply do not exist, and have not spawned in what seems like mellenia and it's crippling doctors.

So you drop your standards...every other player harvesting the same resources is affected the same way unless they stockpiled resources from the last good spawn.

When I get home, I'm going to investigate the possibility of my falling back on buff pack C or even B if I have to because without resources it's game over, its end of fun and end of fun means its time to cancel accounts.

Last time I checked, enhance B and C packs take the same resources (avian and reactive gas) as enhance D's. How would "falling back" on lesser power schematics help? BTW, if I'm wrong about the resource requirements, someone pleaseslap me upside the head with a fish.

There's 30 other professions to try besides doctor. If you're not having fun as a doc, switch professions, try something new.

I think SOE believes that these shortages make the game more insteresting and at first glance such a thing has a certain appeal, I'm not dissing SOE here, but I think this shortages on all the galaxies has turned a fun challenge into a unfun fight and struggle we can't possibly win!! When you've tasted good buff D's and have to fall back and start fighting stuff unbuffed because you can't get buffs because everyone has run out of key resources people will start quitting in droves. There will be a sucking sound the likes of nothing that the virtual worlds have ever heard as people start quitting.

The shortages DO make the game more interesting. Everytime something of above average quality spawns, there's a mini "gold rush" for that resource. If the resource is in the ground, the miners go to work, the archtect sell harvesters, artisans sell waypoints, etc. If the resource is harvested from critters, then nearly every player has the opportunity to cash in. Weapons, armor, food, vehicles, stims, droids...anything will sell that helps players aquire theresource which could sell in the triple-digit CPU range.

I really am tempted to throw a lot of maint into the house and cancel till such time as the shortages ease up a bit. In this way, SOE can start feeling these obscene shortages and resource drouts (sp?) where it hurts them the most, in the pocketbook!

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you started you account just before you registered in these forums. If someone told you that you could master the doctor profession and lead your server with premium quality enhancements in just 4 months, you were misled. The best doctors out there, with some notable exceptions, have worked their asses off with heavy support from their guilds and city mates to get where they are today.

To summarize ...

1. I don't think these shortages will end anytime soon if ever. It may be a prelude to removing buffs all together!

I hope the best Lokian Wheat, Tattooine Fiberplast, Dantooine Berries, Talusian Water, Herbivore meat, Avian Meat, Reactive Gas and Class 4 LPC all spawn on your server AT THE SAME TIME so you get to run around in a panic, and I get to make you eat that last statement.

2. Please soe, Please hear me, hear US when we say, this degree of resources isn't a challenge its an execution, and the victim of this execution is our ability to enjoy this game! None of us feel like going backwards but I for one feel like I'm sliding backwards at Lightspeed * Infinity!! Please hear us! Please end this! Sure, some resources ought to be difficult or time consuming to obtain but they should NOT be non existant!

OMG, this has got to be a joke post. I bet you talked to a lawyer about sueing SWG because your avian meat wasn't "uber l33t" didnt you?

Much of wht you said makes sense. Thanks for that part. The last part wasn't so nice. The part about the joke. What if someone did decieve me and tell me that in four months I could be making packs as good as the other doctors? Then it wouldn't be a joke would it?

I wish you had read my second post here, your tone of this post might have been a lot more nice or maybe you did read it and you just don't care. Only God knows, but nobody's perfect and I'm beginning to believe that I'm the only one who has a policy never to flame or put another person down.

Its a shame people don't try to show some respect and consideration for the fact that we are not born all knowing and wise and that we are subject to mistakes, and panic attacks and in my case, finding myself wishing I could just die due to permanant pain an sickness after surgury last july. Maybe you care, maybe you don't, I've met too many uncaring folks to count, they are a dime a dozen and not worth a copper. What's another one to me, absolutely nothing.

One thing I can say for ye, You didn't flame me, not really, you just kinda used my ignorance as an opportunity to put me down to make yourself feel wiser and better.

I'm not very wise, I've learned one aweful truth, that I've suceeded in growing old but not in growing up, and sometimes it seems that I'm the only one that feels like skum if I put down someone else just to make myself look good to myself.

Sigh. Forget about me, skip my posts. I'm beyond caring any more.l

Damn man. Don't let the forums get you down! We all get flamed once in a while (unless you're a kiss ass but then you don't really count).

If you're really in the crafting biz for the long hall then bide your time, check out the prices of competitiors on your server, accumulate resources, and then have a plan of attack when you are ready to start crafting. Just takes time, patience, and some spamming in Coro to get your shop out there.

Dude, not everyone out here is out to put someone down, you jump to conclusions too quickly. Reread the posts and you'll see how many posts are actually non-put-downers.
Someare just smug/gloating and othersget carried away with an opinion that they feel strongly about. Butit happens everywhereand they don't often have real malice. The anonymity of the internet brings that out from people sometimes.

My advice to you would be to make a decision early on if you would like to be a crafter. If you do,then focus your energies on harvesting/hunting/gathering exp tapesall that you can for that particularcraft for as long as it takes. It doesn't happen overnight andyou'll have to accept that you won't be able to compete with the established crafters for a long time. But that's exactly why they are as good as they are, they put in the time and the effort that 95% of people wouldn't.

If you think you want to, do it. If you don't, don't sweat it, 95% of the people agree with you. LOL

I'm sorry, Alaro, but this is the fate of most players who have just become crafters, or even just become doctors.

I think the tone of your first post may have given the impression you were an older player - at least, I no longer consider several months to feel like millenia when it comes to waiting for decent doc resources.

I've been collecting resources for about a year now. My Doc can make decent buff packs now. I'm not telling you this to gloat, because frankly these are the best packs I have EVER made (unless you count the variability that was inherent in packs a year ago), but more to reinforce what others are saying : it will take what seems an unreasonable amount of time to manage to collect enough high quality resources in high enough quantity to do you a great deal of good. Guilds are what make many super-buff packs possible. Guilds, or connections.

If you're really concerned about earning a living off of your buffs, I recommend setting up shop somewhere and offering your buffs to people during either peak times (when docs are in huge demand, but often low supply) or during low tide, when there's rarely a doctor to be found anywhere, and standards aren't as high. Lines for doctor buffs regularly become TOO long for many players. Many doctors flat out state they will not allow over-tipping just to get someone to the front of the line, ahead of others. Some players just don't care to wait as long as others - charge what you feel is appropriate for the level of buff you can offer, and your shorter line will likely do decent business if you're creative or clever enough.

Entertainers would probably pay reliably for Quickness or Stamina buffs (get one, and they don't need the other, and an Action buff would be superfluous [sp?]). Anything that hits for over 400 would be appreciated - perhaps 700+ for Masters who are buffing.

Fine, so you can't guarantee 2400 HAM buffs. Well, most people don't actually need buffs that powerful, IMO. Yes, some players may use tactics that require such buffs. They'll be willing to pay disgusting amounts, and be willing to wait quite some time just for those buffs. They're not going to be your customers. Yes, some players will be insulting about lower powered buffs. They're idiots, and it's their loss if they'd rather waste 2 hours looking for a better buff than taking what's available and doing something they actually enjoy.

Using lower level packs won't help in any way. Make what you make, buff what you buff, roll with the punches, or take a break. Or heck, make an alt while you wait out decent resources on your server. Preferably an alt who does NOT heal Perhaps a Tailor. Generally speaking, resource stats make no difference to them. People always want a new outfit.

Sorry for rambling there...erm...yeah.

Same here... that LWW that spawned in, the Adrea[insert rest of name here] ... I have like... 2 million units of it left... haha.

Why are you only 11 pt doc? With AS backing you up, you should be able to become a 20 pt Doc if it were possible.

Too lazy to get the other 9 points I need. Spent so much effort getting mine for doc, don't really want to deal with it on the Doc side.

Oh, I'm sorry. You must be a noob. My bad.

Do this: Go to naboo right now and hunt as many kaadu and peko pekos as you can and get their meat. Don't bother with nunas, they're worthless. You can get kaadu missions from the terminals or you can hunt for them in the wild. You can't get peko peko missions I don't think.

It don't sound like gloating to me, I'm happy for your accomplishment. My buff pack power is getting fairly decent with a few that are the best I've seen so far, but I've not had more than a few doctors buff me. It's amazing the difference eating Bovoli makes! I'm still having difficulty getting a consistant duration. I was told I must use the same exact reactive gas in each pack to get the same duration. Another oddity, is I've buffed a few unbuffed players and a couple times the same pack buffed my unbuffed alt for 128 str and 148 constitution, and then the next moment, under the exact same conditions, buffed another fully unbuffed player for 1750, and then later these same two packs rebuffed my same alt, under the same conditions for 1750.

Later the same thing happened with an action pack. it buffed my unbuffed alt for 404 and then I logged her out, and waiting a bit and did it again and the same action pack buffed for 1450, In all cases my droid's battery was at least 70% charged and I was wearing the same clothes and had no bivoli or other buffs on me. Strange eh? Go figure.

If you're really concerned about earning a living off of your buffs, I recommend setting up shop somewhere and offering your buffs to people during either peak times (when docs are in huge demand, but often low supply) or during low tide, when there's rarely a doctor to be found anywhere, and standards aren't as high. What I've been doing is letting the players choose what to pay. I tell them my buffs are acting unpredictably and that I will buff them first and then they pay me what they think it's worth to them IF it's worth anything. Its the only fair thing for me to do. I would hate to state a price and have some player recieve a bad set of buffs.

I'm not concerned about makign a living off buffs, I have mastered TKA and can make money doing missions, the thing that really worries me is that a player might die because some key buff expired before it should or the buffs were not up ot par, and I'm also concerned about getting a bad rep for bad buffs, so for weeks, I've changed my title bar to master TKA and avoid advertizing or letting others see me in my doctors clothes and asking for a buff, because I'm afraid of selling them short or having them die because my buffs stink.

The shortage of certain resources on intrepid, is making it very difficult for me to solve this issue any time soon so I'm a doctor in hiding like the Jedi for the time being. Iv'e been told it's unwise to use any resource in a buff pack with an OQ lower than 850, but as of last night, I've had to settle for avian meat of OQ 742. It had a wonderful PE of 990 or some huge figure and I think good malliability and DR, and I've gotten some port to use for when I'm expermimenting, I'm hoping this will enable me to make buffs that at least don't get players killed and have some reasonable degree of duration and consistant duration between the packs.

Entertainers would probably pay reliably for Quickness or Stamina buffs (get one, and they don't need the other, and an Action buff would be superfluous [sp?]). Anything that hits for over 400 would be appreciated - perhaps 700+ for Masters who are buffing.

Excellent, suggestion. Thank you! Btw, this is strange, but on intrepid, it seems I cannot find anyone in theed cantina that does mind buffs via dancing and music. I've pretty well decided I'm going to have to buy a third game box so I can create an entertainer character that my guild mates and myself can depend on for buffs.

Fine, so you can't guarantee 2400 HAM buffs. Well, most people don't actually need buffs that powerful, IMO. Yes, some players may use tactics that require such buffs.
