Thread: With all the resource shortages maybe its time to fall back on enhance C or account cancellations?

I have noticed universal shortages ofacceptable (Not maggot filled) key resources on every server in this game. A look at any of the few sites that list available resources by galaxy is truly horrifying!!

On intrepid good avian meat, herb meat and good dantooine berries is harder to find than getting a personal audience with the head of SOE because they simply do not exist, and have not spawned in what seems like mellenia and it's crippling doctors.

When I get home, I'm going to investigate the possibility of my falling back on buff pack C or even B if I have to because without resources it's game over, its end of fun and end of fun means its time to cancel accounts.

I think SOE believes that these shortages make the game more insteresting and at first glance such a thing has a certain appeal, I'm not dissing SOE here, but I think this shortages on all the galaxies has turned a fun challenge into a unfun fight and struggle we can't possibly win!! When you've tasted good buff D's and have to fall back and start fighting stuff unbuffed because you can't get buffs because everyone has run out of key resources people will start quitting in droves. There will be a sucking sound the likes of nothing that the virtual worlds have ever heard as people start quitting.

I really am tempted to throw a lot of maint into the house and cancel till such time as the shortages ease up a bit. In this way, SOE can start feeling these obscene shortages and resource drouts (sp?) where it hurts them the most, in the pocketbook!

To summarize ...

1. I don't think these shortages will end anytime soon if ever. It may be a prelude to removing buffs all together!

2. Please soe, Please hear me, hear US when we say, this degree of resources isn't a challenge its an execution, and the victim of this execution is our ability to enjoy this game! None of us feel like going backwards but I for one feel like I'm sliding backwards at Lightspeed * Infinity!! Please hear us! Please end this! Sure, some resources ought to be difficult or time consuming to obtain but they should NOT be non existant!

SOE= Challenge is fun.Impossible barrior= canceled accounts!

Shadowfire just recently went through it's best Reactive Gas and Avian Meat [for power, not overall including duration] spawns since it started. Flurry just got a new spawn of Avian that is incredible for all 3 stats. Bad luck is bad luck, let's not try to turn it into a apocolyptic scare.

Being a good crafter takes patience, the best resources in the galaxy's never spawn at the same time, and can be month(s) apart. Eventuallysomething great will spawn, always does.

So the next spawn of good dant berries could be seven months from now, same for avian meat and herb meat? I can be patient, but there is a point where patience turns into foolishness. I'm out of stuff now, and I will not wait seven months before I can play this game again, I'll be canceling my account the day I fall in to the ruin of poverty, the day I can no longer heal folks in my group, the day I can no longer play and enjoy this game.

As for being apocryphal, this poster's saying that some resources vanish from sight for 7 months sounds pretty apocryphal to me. In fact it sounds far worse than I thought! I thought we might get 2 months shortages and now we are talking about seven or maybe even more? Yeesh!!

How long have you been crafting? It took me several months of waiting to get the resources together to compete with the other top doctors on the server. We've had some good resources (great avian, good herb) and some bad (never a good lokian wheat spawn). Patience is key here...if you cannot discipline yourself to sit and wait then perhaps crafting isn't for you.

Yes, you may have 7 month shortages on quality items...that's just the way the ball bounces. Part of being a crafter is rolling with the punches, living through the shortages, and reaping the rewards of a good harvest of a new ingredient.

This is what makes the crafting game fun. Hunting down the best available resouces. Boy what a boring game this would be if it were easy.

The art work in crafting is picking and choosing your battles. Let me give you an example.

Up until a few weeks a go Flurry had not seen any good tat fiber or lok wheat in a very long time (6+ months). The good stuff was selling for 30+ cpu for either the best wheat or the best fiber. Now as a crafter who likes great charges on his meds which do I go for? I could try to buy a bit of both or I could try to guy 2x of just one of them. Hmm. Which would you choose?

I went with the fiber. Why? Well, since Im going for charges OQ and UT count in the fiber so it will count 2x the amount the OQ in the wheat will. So I could match the great tat fiber with some low quality wheat that was going for 5 cpu and still make high charge ABEC.

Lucky for me most other docs went for the wheat. It was selling for more cpu than the fiber even thought the stats on it were further from perfect than the fiber.

It is playing these games as a crafter that make being a crafter fun.

I agree. It took8 months of hunting and resource gathering for me to feel confident enough to set up shop. Not that everyone should be subjected to this, but professional crafters make a conscious decision to commit time and effort into their craft. That's what separates them from the dabblers and casual crafters. If it's going to take 7 months for a good spawn to arrive, then wait 7 months and use alternatives in the meantime (lower-powered substitutes and better marketing).Or quit crafting. Every crafteron the server is subjected to the same conditions as you.

Allmeds can be crafted with the resources available at any one time (Buffpack A anyone?). No one will ever go without stims, buffsor cures. Quality is the only difference. If you have the med use for a D pack, you certainly qualify for an A pack. People are so used to always getting "uber" meds that they close their eyes to all other options. If you consider carefully, not being able to craft "uber" packs all the time is not the same as saying that you can't craft meds at all.

There is an attitudeamong some players that fun begins only when you become "uber" or are able to create "uber" products on a regular basis with minimum work and time invested. The road there is just an inconvenience to be put up with.

Not all of us agree with that.

I can't believe you're bitching about avian meat on Intrepid, as I'd kill for the "Esibrisak" spawn you have there now to show up on Gorath. Just go get it!

Same here... that LWW that spawned in, the Adrea[insert rest of name here] ... I have like... 2 million units of it left... haha.

Why are you only 11 pt doc? With AS backing you up, you should be able to become a 20 pt Doc if it were possible.

On Eclipse we aren't short on Avian we recently went through 2 nice spawns...
Class 4 Liquid Petro is going for 125 cpu ...
Same with Herb Meat 80-125 cpu
Not sure why but whe haven't had a good Class 4 Liquid Petro spawn in a while..
As buffs go we aren't short on good buffs , pretty much on any decent buffpackshop buffs range from 900 - 945 power ..
Wich is quite good...
