Thread: if our buffs get nerfed

I don't know, if you nerf buffs/armor/food AND nerf the MOBs then why do the nerf in the first palce? I personally think the game would be fine if they would jst fix the broken professions.

Again, and calmly, I take issue with those who are wanting to go back to the days when EVERYTHING had to be grouped. I like the option of grouping or soloing. When I ask why they (the oldtimers) can't choose to not buff or armor then get a group together the response is that NOT MANY PEOPLE WANT TO GROUP. Hello! The enhancements were added to make the game fun and playable for a larger number of players NOT just the groups. Nothing stops you now from grouping except that, givin the choice, people would rather buff. In a fantasy game I want to play. Real life is hard enough and I don't need to go through the grind in my gaming time. I like player interaction in the economic and guild system where I choose the level of my interaction. I do not see why I should be forced to group ALL THE TIME.

At least for me the Combat Balance will be the deciding factor wheather I continue or not. If I were to put $20 on the table I will bet that SOE will nerf buffs/armor/food. They'll nerf the higher level MOBs just beyond the point of soloing them. They wil nerf attacks and defenses as well. Jedi will become more powerful and I will cancell my two accounts - but not delete them.

Two months later SOE will send me an e-mail saying the they rebalanced the rebalance and won't I please come back. SOE seems to like to learn things the hard way.

buff nerf's will be a bad thing. extremely bad.
armor and other stuff will be ok.

I'm gonna go ahead and assume you weren't playing the game before the one-two punch of buffs/armor ruined group oriented PvE. As such, I will dismiss this pointless, self-preservist, unsupported post as being a result from naiveness. Please, in the future, for the good of the Community know what you are talking about before posting one thought comments with no support for where you stand [at least in the Doctor community, which is flooded enough as it is with leet wannabes who think buying buff sets and buffing in Cnet is good credage].

Yes, it's gonna suck getting used to hunting with other people [note the sarcasm in this point], and Docs are gonna lose a source of income [which isn't a good source to begin with anyways unless you are unable to pick up a melee weapon], but we have to lose the selfish view of our own profession and look at the game as a whole and realize that buffs/armor together have literally ruined the ground game. Not only has it rendered mid-high end PvE solo-able [ie "solo group"], but it has forced the devs to make the extreme pve so hard that it takes full groups to kill one mob in under 5 minutes, which is just plain rediculous considering also how much damage they do [ie "super battle droids"].

I've been a Master Doctor for longer than most people at this point have played the game. And I'm easily one of the oldest still Master Doctors in all of the galaxies. I am a healer and a meds creator. I am not a buff whore, and I don't think our profession was ever intended to be as such. It degrades our profession and every one of us "true Doctors" who chose our profession to aid the injured. Buffs getting nerfed? Good riddens, maybe then I can get into a group when I say "Doctor looking for group" and the group will value my addition for more than 6 shots of invincibility.

Sorry if I carried on into a rant a bit, as you can tell I feel pretty strongly about the subject and our profession, more for our profession's prestige and group usefulness than how we will make money when they nerf buffs.

EDIT: In response to one part of your post capten, we can't simply "not buff or armor and get a group" b/c there is no one to group with. I know you already addressed this, but what you didn't address is the fact that people that don't want to buff/armor up are forced to b/c it is no longer a choice. The ground game as a whole has degraded into what it is now, and it dragged everyone down with it, whether or not they wanted to. I'll admit that it was great at first, but now it's the chief reason why I'm so bored with PvE and I'm not the only one that feels the same way. People are quitting the game b/c of this... it may not be a direct cause, but it is a large contributing cause, that is very easy to see.

Nerf the friggin buffs, nerf everything... I'm BOTH an armorsmith and a doc, so I at least have an inkling of what I'm talking about.

I think though that teamplay is central to gameplay, afterall if you didn't want to play with people, just go play KOTOR. It's way more enjoyable working towards a goal as a group as opposed as working by yourself in a solo group on dantooine.

Having said that, applying the little time I've spent at dungeons, high powered buffs/armor is pretty much a prerequisite to go into the geo caves, or basically anywhere on yavin. Hopefully SOE will recognize that these should be playable in a reasonable sized group, and not only super duper templates and jedi.

if buffs get nerfed......you will see more people with doc in their prof than you can count. doc/rm, doc/sm, doc/cm will become the standard, more than it is now.

Can you honestly say its fair to make some doc a prerequisite for every damn template on the server?

lol it's true. There are so many docs running around as it is, but again, we'll see what the future has in store for us.

When our buffs change we can do several things:

  1. We can complain how hard it is, whine, threaten to strike Yadda Yadda Yadda and have a miserable time playing the game

  2. We can threaten to quit or really quit, losing all the time and effort that we gave to get as far as we did.

  3. We can suck it up, and adapt.

Not to belittle anyones concerns, but really, things are going to change. And we'll have to adapt to that change. Plus, in that change, I'm sure new oppurtunites will come our way, or we can capatilize on old ones (Charge for healing? Charge for rezzing?)

But in the end, if changing doc (and everybody else) makes the game better, I'm all for it!

nerf this, nerf that, blah blah blah. take the game for what it is. if i get bored or what ever with the prof. I move on to another and find a new one. I still have fun in the game. the changes really have not affected me. and sooo many others seem to enjoy it as well.

lol yeah nerf buffs..

I want my doc to be as rare a profession as my ID is....

What I remember of the "Good ol days" of low end hunting groups was it was Uber rare to have a group medic.. docs? Who the heck was crazy to be a doc if not just to roleplay it.. Got posioned? Welp ride it out thats your only option...

Simple fact is. Players goto the best or most powerfull or the prof with the most advantages... (Not all but most players)

Nerf buffs... Nerf the main reason 99% players take doc... Should see a raise in TK after that.. unless of course meditation is also on the Nerfing block..

I am not to worried for my alt MD/M. Swordsmen.. Icould always takeup CH instead of doc and still play my solo type roleplaying toon lol
