Thread: New Buffing System Feedback

Do any of the Master Docs out there feel the new buff system stinks as much as I do? With packs around 850, I usually hit for around 2K consistently with 3K a possibility. I don't think I ever hit for under 1700 or so. I think the new system favors lessor level docs since the difference between a good pack and mediocre pack is not as much. They used to buff for 700 with a lousy pack which separated the good docs from the others. Now, a doc with 90 med use is only 100 or 200 points below a master doc on buff strength. I liked hitting for 3K cause customers knew I made good packs. Now I'm just "one of the guys".

I should clarify that my stated buffing stats were pre-publish 7. It boils down to the fact that the difference between a doc who busts his butt to make uber buffs only hits for a couple hundred higher than one who goes out and buys mediocre packs. We both charge the same so it's the hard worker who is penalized.

I like the current buffing system. I believe the way things are now opens the door for the devs to create enhance pack e's that actually mean something. I HATED that variability of buffs before patch 7. I had 900+ packs with bivoli + droid + doc clothing and still had the chance of hitting someone int the low 1000s. It was very irritating. I personally was more angry at getting a buff below 1500 than I was happy about getting one at 3700.

I would however like to see a little more distinction in being a master doctor with good packs. So bring on the Enhance E's with a minimum med use of 100!!!!

Why do you still charge the same? In the old system it would be pretty hard to argue that you were a better more carefull doctor than everyone else. It would be absurd tocharge differently than everyone else. Now you can prove it. And as such you ought to be able to charge a "premium".

The new system doesn't favor anybody at all. The ONLY thing at all different about the new system is that a 50% +/- randomness was removed. Equally from everybody.

You may want to believe your good and all that, but it was a falsehood. The only thing good was how your luck with the "random roll" went. The fact is even with crappy buffpacks a noob master doc could hit your beloved 3k you like so much. What does that say? You the guy who spent the time making the quality packs are no better than the guy with a 100 less power on his pack? This argument fly's both ways. For that matter flys both ways 50% +/- hehe

Under the old system it was entirely possible for you the higher level doc to get usurped by the lower level doc just out of randomness alone. Entirely not possible any more.

Every claim you make in support of the old system is exactly what the new system brings, and the old system "hid".

Any system that rewards effort with result is a good system.

Before, you could use crappy buffs and make the excuse that it was all random. Now if you use crappy buffs, everyone will know. The only people that are going to hate this are the people who try to pass off poor quality and lack of effort as good quality and hard work. (not that anyone would ever try to do that :smileysurprised

I disagree COMPLETELY. As a master doctor on Lowca, before the experimentation that day, I was able to say that I had made some of the best, non Janta buff packs on the server. These came out to 936-941 base/11.5k-11.8k duration/89 med use. These took getting the BEST resources out there and I hoarded them until I thought I was going to lose the crafting system, so I ran 75 sets of these. Now, these 936's were a pain to make. Please compare how hard it would be to make these against someone making 850 packs. Now, I don't want to penalize those that make 850 packs, but I believe that making something really good like 930 packs should really give you a reward for making those. When an 850 pack will only hit for 200 less than a 940 pack, there's a problem. Sure everyone says that " I would take 2300 buffs every time" and I agree with the new system. I would just like to see a little bonus for taking the time to make super good foods than average packs.

i used to HATE the question, what do you "normally" hit for? Uh... somewhere between 1100 and 3100 with tehse packs I have now? Oh? How often to you hit 3100? Uh....Dunno....10% of the time? Ok Hit me.

Now:

How much do you hit for on your current packs? 18-1900. Ok Hit me

The customers still pay. I even get comments like great buff doc still. And all on packs that are around 800-850.

Bottom line, The customers still see enough value in my buffs to hit me for 6-10k per set, I have a very tight range to tell the customer to expect. I like the new system.

To me, the customers should be the ones to guage on the system. If they are harping becuase youc annot hit 3k on a buff, when the same pack did it for them a while ago....i am sorry. You either still see value or your do not. I am very generally not very stand offish, but i was never one of those who felt the need to have "THE BEST" buff pack on the market. I look for quality of course, but could care less if the guy next to me is hitting for 100 points more than me or not. I still have ALL the customers I could ever want by just spamming in theed or coronet that I am Buffing, you tip what you feel is fair. Let the other guy have teh glory of a larger buff for less effort, I make my money and have good interaction with my customers....it is all I like about Doc'in.

I like the new system, but I feel the formula needs to be adjusted to give more of a spread between an 850 buff and a 925 buff. In a difference of 200 in buff strength, you are going to go with either the cheaper of the 2, or the smaller line if prices are the same.

Buffing is a formula, plain and simple, what you are asking is for:

A formula for 900 and lower level packs and a formula for 901 and higher level packs, to "reward" doctors.

All you are rewarding is using good resources. I made a 730 pack, switched avian, made a 860 pack. It isn't really skill after you master doctor; its all in the resources.

I like the new system, I agree there isn't much variance that shows you are using a 900 pack anymore, but it sure does up the profit level of doctor, eh.

I wouldn't mind them leaving the formula the way it is, but, adding say an enhance E (for MDs only =D ) that had a base of say 900-1250 (with charges in the 40-45 range on the top end) this would put the high-end of actual buff values (with full BE clothes + food + droid + etc) around 3375. This would add a little more incentive/benefit to being a master doctor.

I love the new system. I have 900 packs. It is soooo nice to be able to tell people what they will get and to charge them for it. No guess work.

My customers by far and large love it as well.
