A good question has been posed by a more profound thinker than myself. That is, what is a buff? Understandably, stims are doubtless some kind of rapid Bacta/Adrenaline infusion, and poision and disease cures are real enough, but what kind of pharmacutical can raise the health or effective durability of a person? I can conceive thatsecondary skillslike strength and stamina can be thought of as a kind of steroid treatment thattemporarilyincreases muscle mass orvaso-dialatesto increase blood flow.. but dont steroids have side effects? And isn't spice the universe's "steroids"?More questionably, about primary stats? Does their skin become thicker, /chuckle? A full set of buffs on a person makes them move upwards of 5 times faster and easier, and makes them 5 times more robust against laser blasts, lightsabers, and the gnawings of the krayt dragons..

But, dont get me wrong. I love being able to use them on myself and others and would have it any other way.

In my bio i tried to explain them as manipulations of gravity or tachyon particles mixed with some strange bio-chemistry.. Think you've got a better answer? Post and let your fellow doctors be the judge.

Just thought I could encourage some good RP discussion

Hmm. Interesting post, and a very good question !

How about Nanomachines ? I don't know whether theres any reference to Nanotechnology in the SWG universe, but if so it could provide quite a good explanation for buffs. They could be though of as limited lifespan nanomachines that are injected into the target. Once in the targets system they would greatly increase many facets of the subjects physiology, such as regenerative capacity, muscle performance, enhanced neural response & reflexes etc. They could also deal with any chemical imbalances that occured as a result of these enhancements, thus explaining why they don't have a 'downer' the way spices do. Then I guess after they have run their course, they could self-disassemble or be broken down by the subjects immune system.

Every time I buff now, I'm going to think of the little critters flying around capillaries doing their thang !
